Doesn't look clear to me. Neither in real time nor slow motion. The freeze frame doesn't look great, but even Kylie Minogue can look butt ugly in a freeze frame, gurning away like Welsh hill farmer. A freeze frame doesn't necessarily tell the true story. Pretty sure it's not very clear to the referee either as he clearly shows the card to the wrong man. There's no way on earth he's sending Hammill off at that point. Looks more like a case of taking any excuse to send off a Barnsley player, whichever one is nearest. If I'd been the referee and confronted with that challenge at such pace, as no one was injured, I'd just tell them all to get on with it.
Never a red. The rule is used excessive force or endangered an opponent - don't think either of those things occurred. Never for a single minute crossed my mind that it was a red in real time and I'm usually d Fairly balanced on these things. Now I've seen the video I've not changed my mind.
Listening to radio Sheffield the commentator on brase or grumble say's Hammell got sent off for going in with 2 feet and the ref got it right, would not expect anything else.
Looking at another freeze frame makes you wonder how hutchinson also got away with it. Over the top is another offence
That freeze frame is Hammill trying to avoid Hutchinson's lunge - in real time he stands up with both feet together. Not a red, not sure it's a foul either way tbf. Local journo's with a hard on over the result as per Sent from the darkest recesses of a poisoned mind.
The ref actually pointed for a Barnsley free kick. Awful awful refereeing. Watkins, Scowen now Hammill. Barnsley ought to dog the FA to death about this. It's disgraceful.
Yet Winnall gets flattened then stamped on 2 games in a row. Scowen gets completely cleaned out 2 footed and nothing given. 3 far worse challenges than our last 3 sendings off.
never a sending off and, never seen reffin like that,he deffo shows that red to hutchinson and doesnt even look at hammil until he waves him off.
Don't see it. I'm watching it and watching it and watching it and I still can't see where there's a red card in that - honestly. If there is one then it's definitely not one that gets given regularly in matches that I catch.
I don't think anyone is denying this. It's what confused everyone. Even the scoreboard operator at swillsbro put up red for hutchinson.
That's the thing with freeze frames, depends which one you choose. Two payers went in hard, no one was hurt, referee sent off our player. Not like we haven't seen that plenty of times before when playing a so called bigger club.
I know. I've seen another that no matter how hard I try I can't replicate. It shows a picture where hutchinson appears to have lost half his leg. It just doesn't happen and is a doctored pic to make it look a clear one legged tackle. Whether the ref interpreted it as dangerous and out of control only he can say. Hammill does leave the ground with both feet and momentum continues with both feet. He lands on both feet aswell. Doesn't make contact I agree. But it's what the ref interprets (also get the point questioning how he could see it). But the rule is of you are airborne with 2 feet you are not in control. He has given the ref a decision. I can understand why it was given but equally would understand if it wasn't. But whenever have we had a ref who leans decisions towards us.
It's bizarre, you can say he's just misjudged where Hammill was when he got the card out but then he signal's for a Barnsley free kick. Did we get a free kick? The only explanation I can think of is that he thinks Hammill's struck Hutchinson in the face afterwards so has given us the free kick but sent Hammill off, anything else makes no sense
Didn`t look like Hammill did anything wrong at the time and nothing I`ve seen since has convinced me otherwise - there was only one man jumping in off his feet and the Ref showed Hutchinson a red card and gave us a free kick before changing his mind.
