Patrick has a nose for a profit, and an eye for relegating us, AGAIN

Can we afford not to have him?! Pay the lad what he wants and sign him for as long as possible

Unless he signs a contract in the next week or so, continues to impress and we accept a bid for him as early as next month to sell him :)

aww f*k this is bringing up allsorts of questions now. can we afford this player (Hammill for example), or can we afford him or anybody else for that matter if we DO go down ? after all, who will want to join us in Lg two!!
make up your minds johnson & cryne & co, time really is running out now on this season and relegation this season could decide our future for the next five years or more in the 4th Division.

We can't afford to not sign him, it's no coincidence that we've looked better since he came. Get him in this week on a 2 year contract.

Aye we just slashed the wage bill lets feckin hammer it ageean, for one bloke that could get a long term injury the day after, and he is more likely to get one more than most as he is our main threat.

When you reckon up how much we have made financially by giving long contracts to players against those that didn`t get sold or we had to pay up their contracts is it worth it?

2-3 year deal best option , one of best players in league , and way he celebrated goal yesterday shows he wants to stay

What Ben Mansford said about Hammill at Athersley Rec:

We'll offer him a contract and we'll match anything any other club in this division can offer. However, we simply can't compete with what a Championship club can offer. We just can't and we've all got to come to terms with that. I would imagine, although Ben didn't say so, we'd really struggle to compete with Wigan too.

But we're in pole position. It's not just that Adam Hammill is good for Barnsley, we're good for him too. The lad has been struggling with his life. If he hadn't there's no way he'd be here right now. He's got a family now and he wants to be a better person. He's happy here and we're good for his well being.

Other teams are going to try to sign him. He's way too good for that not to happen. Sheff United put three men on him every time he had the ball last week, so every other club is aware of how well he's playing.

We can offer him a very competitive financial package for this league and provide an excellent working environment that undoubtedly benefits him as a player and, it seems, as a person. But we can't force him to sign. We can't make him do it. It may be that some Championship clubs do come in for him and he turns them down, staying with us. But it may be that he's offered £10,000+ a week and he feels it's just too much to turn down for the financial security of his family.

I hope he stays, he's a brilliant player. Just getting him here for a couple of months represents an amazing coup by the club. If he signs for longer it will be a fantastic achievement. But if he goes elsewhere it won't be through fault of anyone at Barnsley FC, they're doing all they can, and it won't be because Hammill is a greedy b'stard. It's just how things are.

Based on what I've heard, I can't imagine he'll move to any other club at this point.

T-DOG and Tykes fan are right, we cannot afford not to sign him, and from PC'S point of view I would think we need to sign him for as long as possible.
One man doesn't make a team but one bright spark can ignite the rest. I can't help but think LJ and BFC have just had a massive stroke of luck..
Do not let it go by.

But people can't have it both ways.... the.. we don't need PCs money, lets run the club on what we make, gang. Vs the get Hamill on a 3 year deal at any price gang.

Don't think any Hamill deal will be any longer than the end of the season misen.. If PC leaves at the end of the season, who would under right any debt?

I see its 43 Quid in Hillsboro today... that would be one way to pay player wages...... Not
