Only benefit for us is new coach might demand signings and then after today will have to be players from English leagues thank god.
Minus Struber, and now likely Ludewig. Great fullback for us last season, but explains his poor performance this season. Probably no incomings well done Reds great transfer window so far.
We've brought four players in and lost two (one of which wasn't ours anyway). Hardly a disaster. I'm glad Struber is going.
If and it’s a big if we are now concentrating on signing British based players only in the next two weeks then I’m quite happy with that.
True, it doesn't sound like a disaster, but 2 of the players are U23s (Isaac and Corey Addai). So just Helik and Freiser for the first team are additions. Lost Jacob and now Killian. It looks like a net loss at the moment
Behave, plenty of decent players under a million if we be sensible. Just can't be going after top championship players. Top performers in league one, unwanted players in other championship teams, loans from prem, free agents etc. Plenty affordable if smart. All depends on what new coach wants
Should have clarified that we can't afford any players from the English leagues that any other Championship club (possibly bar Rotherham or Wycombe) fancy taking a punt on - that reduces the pool of available players massively, and the pool of Championship-ready players essentially disappears completely. The Whiteman saga suggests that top performers in League One are no longer within our budget either I might believe that we could pick up a couple, but the four or five that we'll need if Ludewig goes? No chance. It was glaringly obvious that the majority of our signings were going to be from abroad, and that was where our priorities lay. I suspect that this will still turn out to be the case, with perhaps one more first-teamer added over the next couple of weeks (plus a couple of kids on loan, maybe? But again, they'll have to be kids that nobody else wants). I just don't think that under the current restrictions we can compete for the players we need.
I don't think Whiteman is a good example, lots of league one clubs are in financial trouble and due to wage cap will be looking to offload, this also means the free agents who are a touch older who normally go league one might now be easier to get as our wages are still 3 x the wage cap for league 1. Sure we won't sign loads of players but I'd take a striker and a cdm right now, and a backup RB for Williams
