Looked like he was unfairly challenged in the box then his fall appeared to be a delayed reaction. What more do you want me to say?
I concur, if Millwall had felt they had been cheated they would have to a man said something. As no-one did, I suspect the camera angle doesn't tell you everything you need to know. I also think he fell down at the same time as the number 11 charged into him.
Genuinely puzzled at the opinions that Bird dived. We were directly overlooking it and their player (no.11?) came in from the side and wiped him out - he was caught out by Bird's quick footwork. Blatant foul for me, and everyone sat around in the same area. The Millwall players' reactions to it speak volumes..
Really? You have created this thread and probably not got the replies you had hoped for. Have a nice Sunday.
I was directly in front of it in the away end and at the time it looked as blatant a penalty as you could get. I haven't properly watched it back though so I've only my own view ad it happened to go on at the moment. Regardless, we were due one and I thought Pearson got the ball for theirs so if nothing else it evened things up.
Jack, just to be clear, I asked if the fact that we had a player who dived and won a penalty was acceptable to our fans. Nothing more nothing less I didn't "hope for" any replies. Just opinions from the Reds community "Move on" wasn't a response worth looking at
Seen it a few times and time. Not once did I think it was a dive and was surprised to read on here that people thought it was
Burn him ! Kill Jared Bird ! Apart from the fact he was brought down as the Millwall player cut across him to tackle him, and the player himself and not one of his team mates protested, I think you have an excellent point.
You miss the point by a country mile The question is.......is it acceptable for us Reds fans to see one of our own players cheating to gain a penalty or other behaviour to win a game
Unfortunately the only way to rid the game of this is making it a offence to the point of 3 game bans for anyone caught. Don't know if Bird did as the highlights only show the one view
It's a problem with football these days. Pen's are only usually given when a player goes to ground. So If a player is fouled, but managed to stay on his feet it's almost like he is penalised for being honest. Thats why is seems like players going down "easy" is a common occurrence...
That's not what you wrote at all in your opening post. You said it was a "total dive", you said the penalty was "totally not warranted", and you accused one of our bright up and coming young players of being a cheat in one of his first few games for us. You also don't respond to several posters, including me, who point out that nobody from Millwall complained about the penalty award. For the record, from a moral point of view I don't want cheaters in our team. But other teams have them, so if we don't, then on average we'll lose out. It should be up to the officials, using video if required, to sort it out.
Need to watch it again but I think it's a clear pen going on the reactions of the Miwaww players. If he really did dive and it's a big if then no I am not happy. I don't want us to cheat to win games.
