I suppose if individual protests as you call them turn into a 3rd of season ticket holders not renewing then it will have a impact. Personally I've accepted my purchase of a season ticket this season was a total waste of money and I'm considering popping up and asking for a partial refund. Then I think I made the commitment so i should just write the money off. I've been to I believe 4 home games, I have completely lost all motivation. I'm just tired of it all. We've always accepted out best players will leave that's football. But ow we are told no matter how well we perform on the pitch success is measured by the numbers of offers for our players. We are told that the clubs intention is never to sign a experienced player. The purpose of our tactical approach is to make our players look good to potential suitors. Then we have the issues that aren't the clubs doing. The horrible experience of getting from the town centre to the ground has been additional factor in my decisions not to bother. Though not personally affected we have a bus strike too which can't help. For some the fear of catching Covid. For others the "Covid Pass" may have a bearing. Personally though totally agaisnt the Covid pass I was so sure I wasn't going to bother I haven't even looked into how I get one. It's all rather sad, when the likely relegation is confirmed I think we could be looking at one of the biggest year on year drops in season ticket sales the club has ever seen.
A great effort. A reminder to everyone who didn’t attend that you can donate here if you’d still like to support the food bank: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/barnsleyfcfoodbank?utm_term=bjYPdrg7G
Was ill all week so gave it a miss last night 1st home game ive missed all season. Watched it at home with the fire on but sounded like the crowd got behind the team to say how few fans were there?
Great to hear about the collection and money raised. Seemed weirdly strange atmosphere last night, but those of us who were there gave the team our support. Strangely I haven’t read any mentions of their being no buses affecting the attendance and I know quite a few that didn’t/couldn’t go for that reason alone.
I bought my season ticket and I’ll do with it what I choose. I chose not to go last night as all my kids were here, we watched a move ate pizza and played monopoly. I have no regrets, I don’t think those that went are soft in the head but then I don’t think they’re better then me. It’s a legitimate topic to discuss the lack of support and why that is, and if you can’t see that people having been served up our worse half season in 100 years CBA with it then that’s your problem.
One point about those who attended -it seemed to me that around 80 percent of them ignored the instruction to wear masks in the toilets and other areas.
the attendance is the number of seats sold. I mean you can’t sell the seat twice. Whether someone chooses to use it is different. It’s always the same with attendance throughout the leagues.
I didn’t bother going last night due to feeling a bit unwell last few days (not covid) but even the other games I’m attending I’m finding hard going, my match day enjoyment as gone, I miss going in to Redfearns for a catch up with mates and a few beers, I’m not expecting any kind of result other than a loss come ko, of course I’ll carry on supporting the lads but they’re not making it easy.
Except that isn't an attendance is it. It's a potential attendance. It's stupid false reporting that takes people for fools. In my opinion it should be illegal as clubs use it to advertise sponsorship packages etc and it's false advertising at the end of the day because it suggests that the number of attendees announced will be seeing your adverts when in reality they won't.
The crowds are down for every home game. The announced attendance is significantly higher than those actually at the game. l would argue that's a combination of dislike for the owners/their strategy and the performance of the team. If we were playing well more people would turn up even with these owners, if we were playing this badly with a board that were liked, more people would turn up than have recently. A lot of people don't like the owners but it takes us playing badly for that to be demonstrated. However, yesterday there were many more factors at play: weather, covid, bus strike, it being on TV, office parties, close to Christmas. Combined they were probably more significant than people giving up on the team.
My son and I were there and like Whitey, also estimated around 7k. Agree with the poster above who says 80% of people weren't wearing masks underneath the stands. Credit to the lads in the right side of the Ponty who sang pretty much throughout and created a decent atmosphere.
So if you are a fan you are not allowed to comment only critics are allowed to say anything , nob head alert
I mentioned many reasons why fans could not attend last night & you are right it is everybody"s choice to please themselves , no problem with that , its you with the problem judging by your reaction
