I think the key was his positioning, and his confidence in it. If you watch it carefully he takes a step to his left which completely blocks that side of the goal. So when Hardie opens up his body and shapes to shoot into that corner he knows that either it will be straight at him, or he'll put it wide, so the only thing he has to worry about and be ready for is if he cuts back the other way. This allows him to be on it in a flash when he does. It's an amazing bit of quick thinking and positional awareness with his back to goal.
Thank you, you've got that spot on. I was trying to analyse why I thought it was top keeping and you've articulated it brilliantly. Isted almost dummied the striker first to put him off shooting to the striker's right.
If Collins is fit to return Duff should continue to play Isted until he gets an injury himself. Best way to reward players if you're managing. (I speak as an ex manager of a school team)
