The point here for me which is being missed. is that a player, first team regular. Who played for us at Wembley not even a month ago doesn't want to sign for Barnsley FC. He would have signed for Barnsley FC with Michael Duff at the helm. So the 'no one's bigger than the club' statement is not adding up. If it would have been Michael Duff's Barnsley FC he would have signed. So anyone who says it doesn't matter who is incharge is clearly wrong. Isted knew all about us and who was here, all the coaches and the set up.. but still didn't want to sign because the pull was Duff and not the club. So all you .. 'give it too Devaney fans' think on. It does matter who the head coach is for the appeal of the club, for players to want to sign and also stay. We are just average sized northern town with not a lot of money to spend. So thee main attraction is who the head coach is. Someone who can attract players. Like it or not it was Michael Duff's Barnsley that was the attraction and not Barnsley. The new head coach appointment is vital.
Whilst I agree with your post we don't actually know if he was ever going to sign, Duff here or not. Again, I think it was a question of who is going to pay him more, nothing to do with Duff..... In my opinion.
