Only 8 of his 69 England goals were on friendlies. 15 of his 61 goals in competitive games came in major tournaments.

If the Bundesliga is such a poor standard, why has the apparently bang average Harry Kane scored fifty goals in it quicker than Haaland, quicker than Lewandowski, quicker than anyone else ever? Surely a standard so low would be easy for everyone?

 

It was revealed recently he was carrying a back injury through the Euros and played through the pain barrier, whilst I commend his attitude and loyalty for the shirt Southgate should have been firmer and pulled him for the greater good of the team.

No surprise that he had a brilliant relationship with Son at Spurs & was at his best for England with Sterling alongside him.

If you have genuine wide players like Madueke & Gordon supporting him & Bellingham coming from deep then he’ll still do well for England for a while.

If you try to fill the team with number 10’s & intricate passing like Southgate did in the summer then his England days are number & you need a more mobile forward like Watkins.
