Has anyone seen Stan Collymore's pearls of wisdom in The Mirror?

    Idiot

"Fans around the world want to see the huge games - not clashes involving clubs like Barnsley, Watford or Hull."

Who gives a flying **** about "fans around the world" Stan you woman beating Charlie?? Its about time these fans and those that wear Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal shirts to do their supermarket shopping oblivious to the fact that their "chosen" team is actually playing as they shop, realised that there are other teams outside the upper reaches of the premier league.

Real fans dont give a toss about "fans around the world" that watch matches on their tellys.

Even if you ignore all that is fundamentally, morally wrong with that idea

As the first commenter says, removing relegation would mean that the competition would be pointless for all but the top four who have a chance of winning the title or getting into the Champions League.

Let's face it, the relegation battles are actually more interesting than the title battles because there's more at stake. Who really cares if Man United plc slip up slightly less than Chelsea plc and end up winning the title? What's really interesting is seeing the squeeky bum situations come the end of the season (and conversely the excitement and hopes in the Championship promotion race). That's where the excitement is. Hasn't Collymore noticed this at all?

The day the top division isn't assembled on merit and becomes inaccessible to the rest, is the day I and probably many others will kick the game into touch.

So presumably the sides that should be in are these then

Ranked in order of number of seasons in the top flight
Not sure what the likes of Bolton, Blackburn and Stoke are doing there - even the 2 sheffield clubs are much more deserving than the likes of leeds

West Brom vs Derby is a much better game than Spurs vs Leeds for example by the logic I assume he is trying to apply

And everyone will want to watch Everton V Villa much more than Chelse V Newcastle - the guys a total nob

    Everton 106
    Aston Villa 98
    Liverpool 94
    Arsenal 92
    Manchester United 84
    Manchester City 80
    Newcastle United 79
    Sunderland 78
    Chelsea 74
    Tottenham Hotspur 74
    West Bromwich Albion 72
    Bolton Wanderers 70
    Blackburn Rovers 69
    Sheffield Wednesday 66
    Derby County 65
    Sheffield United 60
    Wolverhampton Wanderers 60
    Middlesbrough 60
    Nottingham Forest 56
    Birmingham City 55
    Stoke City 53
    West Ham United 52
    Burnley 51
    Leeds United 50
