new drug champix may be helpful: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6705667.stm

here are some tips to prevent you sounding like Simon Davey (with crazy excuses)

    tip 1:
We all know someone who's smoked and lived a long life
    - but that's a bit like saying "i know someone who's been in 3 car accidents and is still alive"
    - it doesn't mean to say that car accidents are good for you.

    tip 2:
We all know someone who's died young and lived a healthy life and so it's easy to be blasé about the risks of smoking
    - but that's a bit like crossing a road with your eyes shut and saying
    - 'oh well people die crossing the road with their eyes open, so why not'

    tip 3:
The 'oh, when your number's up, your number's up attitude' who cares about chances and percentages anyway?
    - would you buy 10 lottery tickets and throw 5 of them away?

the moral of the story is - are you being honest with yourself (or making excuses so you can stay in a comfort zone)?

here's another tip - if you needed a lung transplant and had to choose somebody else's lungs

Well done! Keep it up - best thing I ever did

This is my 4th year *** free. I quit on December 19th 2006 and I haven't looked back and I raised £400 for charity in the process which was a massive incentive. Another incentive for me was that I had always wanted Sky and couldn't afford it. The money I save from not smoking now pays for me to have Sky TV.

I remember being nagged on countless occasions and thinking stuff you I'll do it when I'm ready and not when someone tells me. No matter what tips you are given, you have to really want to stop smoking. That is the only way you will ever succeed.
