Can't be too often that all 4 teams know they'll be in the play offs with two games to spare. There's normally 3rd maybe 4th still hoping for a top 2 spot, and 6th still trying to hold onto their place. Like a mini pre-season before going into the season with a semi final straight away.
I had an arrogance about me in 2006 and 2016. I've never accepted us as a League 1 club. Defeat in the Play-Offs was unthinkable for me. I'm with you I feel we're gate crashing mixing with the big boys this time round. Promotion would be a bonus.
I wasn't so confident in 2006, but I knew we'd win the shoot out. Nick colgan was excellent on penalties. I also won't say a bad word about Lee Mason after he gave us the free kick that Nardiello equalised from.
In 2006, I knew we'd beat Huddersfield, even though we lost 0.1 at Oakwell in the first leg. I wasn't so sure about the final at Cardiff though
Like I said I never even contemplated defeat. Didn't bare thinking about. More seasons in the ale house league. Laura used to say "well at least you don't come home miserable that you've lost in League 1". I used to say "if we spend long enough down there we'll drop to that level."
I know what you mean, but at the end of the day, no team has a right to be anywhere on the pyramid- it has to be earned. That said we have spent more seasons than any other in rge 2nd Tier, so it just seems right that we play our football there.
I know it's arrogance and snobbery on my part but I grew up with us in the Championship and from the age of 10-15 we were half decent at that level.
