Has Clarke got a clue how to make the team click

Bang on, the signs were there after 25 minutes of a brand new season, he looked lost then and he's never found his way, as for the odd decent results/performances at home the adage 'Even a blind squirrel will find a nut sometime', springs to mind.

 

I honestly don’t know if it’s him, the players, or both, but if you take the away games in isolation (as that’s where most of our wins have come), we’ve often looked more stretched than comfortable in getting those wins.

A few games where we looked in control were at Crawley, Shrewsbury & possibly Peterborough, but away from home that’s acceptable. You shouldn’t expect to get it all your own way.

At home? Crikey! Where to start? Rotherham, Bristol & Crawley straight forward wins? Hung on grimly for our win against Wrexham & Lincoln almost nicked a point from 4-1 down.

All in all we’ve struggled to be consistent across 2 halves of football, substitutions have often sounded the bugle of retreat, and it’s looked like he never knew his best team, because players rarely do enough to keep their places, and that’s before you factor in the horrible individual mistakes.

 

It is true that on Saturday gone we had numerous injured players and a suspension so had to put together a team with what we had available. However we have some equally inept performances and heavy defeats when we had an almost full squad. The recruitment in January has added nothing to the squad and that isn't Clarke fault. For me those above Clarke and the coaching squad too also have proved inept.

 

We've not played more than a good 45 minutes all season. As poor as the squad is we see teams with fewer resources playing with seemingly more effort and a concerted tactical plan. Seems a poor man manager too.

 

totally agree that the players lack motivation do u think that they dont respect this manager or lost confidence in his selections -strikes and midfielders ambling back to defend -thought it was the worst performane of the season- as for midfield -well Russell imho didnt want to know too slow- connell could not pass a ball-and apart from Roberts not good enough at man marking in defence.

 

he keeps going on about how they are doign things wrong and not implementing what theyre been told, and that the wont let the season fizzle out but all these things are happening and he's the one in charge (supposedly) so he's not being effective in what he says. This comes back to too many cooks spoiling the broth imho. Theyre gettin gtold one thing and then being asked to do another by someone else - thats what it seems and why we are up and down week to week.
