I did applaud him but I also said it's about time he scored a league goal - how many games has it been now?
Did that now it would take us right up to the Sheff Wednesday game - includes Forest, Huddersfield & Cardiff. £100 up front, guaranteed income. Understand it doesn't help walk up fans but it's an option for some. Still don't buy this 'buy your tickets before for a discount', either. Don't think it's working.
Abolish everything, set a price for the remaining games (most expensive season ticket works out at £18.91 per game) any stand, any game. Keep it simple and affordable. They are making very little from pay on the day fans and then they go and get their 2nd biggest game of the season televised.
All they are doing is putting barriers in the way of people buying their product. I'm sure in an office environment, when you are deciding how best to extract income from people and you are working on a spreadsheet then 'clubs' 'time limitss' and other assorted eligibility criteria look fantastic. When you actually work with the public and have even a modicum of understanding about what motivates a customer you realise all that is just crap. One price, all the time, discount advanced purchases by all means, just make it ******* easy and understandable to buy tickets. Oh and extend student pricing to 22 years old ffs.
I thought it was £20 tomorrow night. Just found out it's £23. Summat to do with that membership card I think. Confusion reigns at Oakwell.
I mentioned this in the meeting with The Don. The response from the Box Office lady was 'you buy a gig ticket before hand'. They've done a lot of good lately - the program, Barnsley World, online ticketing etc. The basics are there but the details just aren't right. The more hoops you put in front of people the more excuses you're offering not to turn up.
Make it £20 with a membership card on the gate. That way it makes it easier for the walk up on teh day plus we can still charge Weeds/Fowls £28 when they come down.
The box office lady's response says it all. It's all about their convenience, not the paying publics. In my opinion.
Correct. The difference is that you will plan to go a gig weeks and maybe even months or years in advance. Football isn't like that for some folk, especially ones who cannot justify the upfront cost fo a season ticket.
And it's one gig every year, maybe two. Another justification is 'every other club does it'. Thing is, we're not every club. Need a fundamental shift in mindset and someone to think a bit differently.
We need electronic turnstiles as soon as possible, Sell Davies in January and pay for the system and swipe cards with fee we get, that way it'll be a lot easier to people that are too lazy to nip down to the box office
I hear you brother. Amen to that. My exact same thoughts and frustrations, perfectly articulated by your good self.
I don't have the figures but it would be interesting to see the financial balance between reducing ticket prices and increased gates - how many extra fans would we need every week to make £20 viable. It's a difficult one because you can't guarantee walk up fans turning up. It must be a real poser for Don and PC.
