Yes...

it's never been global and without the pressure the capitalist world brings to bear. It is not about individual power to want to run a business etc, but the power that certain nations and corporations have that can criple a country.

Cuba is far from perfect, I'm sure. But how else can the level of literacy and numeracy be explained without the success of socialism in this sphere. There are some extremes of wealth, for sure and I'm sure that the Cuban leaders would not be happy with this, but is fifty years under (an illegal) blockade enough to embed socilaism? It is not even in it's truest form as that would be without money or a system of exchange perhaps.

The point is that the NHS has lasted through more years of Tory rule than Labour rule, admittedly Labour started it.

True literacy is great in Cuba but you contradict yourself saying that they need trade to thrive but by it's very nature trade is a capitalist trait where protectionism and anti-trade is a solcialist trait.

I know I'll never change your mind but you're so quick to jump on all the political threads with something that is not a solution, never has been a solution, never will be a solution.

It's all very well constantly look backwards for things to blame, that's part and parcel of the current culture. It's harder for some then it is for others to achieve, no government is never going to achieve that, you may as well just settle for religion and hope all turns out perfect once you're dead. There are millionaires born into poverty most of us haven't seen and there are broken men born into wealth. People can make things from nothing, it is possible. I don't believe it's got any easier to achieve and climb out of poverty in the last 10 years though.

If people could try and sit back and examine both of the last two governments and not their ideologies, they've both succeeded in areas and failed spectaularly in others.
