I agree. With limited funds, that is critical.

On a much grander scale and stretching the point abit I think that's why Man utd have been so dominant. They've always produced enough good young players to bolster the squad so that when they've spent money it has been on top players who genuinely improve the team, whereas Liverpool for example wasted millions on squad players.

I do think we will benefit next season from having brought in players like Dawson and Collins now, who have time to bed in. If we can then lose some of the higher earners we should start next season in a much better position to add some genuine quality which would improve us as a team. In fairness this year has been transitional in terms of that. But if you lose McEverley and Gray from the squad, or they stay but on massively reduced contracts, Hill wil be able to bring in more expensive signings.

I'm in no doubt that next year is going to be very difficult, but I think we will have a better squad next season than this. This year it's too imbalanced due to high earners who aren't good enough, who in turn have neccessitated bringing in very low paid players. This summer Hill can hopefully build either a balanced squad of mid-wage better quality players, or a good blend of workhorses and high paid players who justify the higher wages and improve the team.
