Again agreed, in our example we had a senior employee appointed to the board(was also on lots of other boards too) and whilst wasn’t involved in the day to day had a very significant say on strategy and spend. Said on another post Conway reminds me of this same person.
One of the reasons I posted the translate Chinese version of the Pacific Media article was the reference to an American General Manager. Interesting use of words.
For balance (I am sure you know this), for those not aquainted with these type of companies, they live and die on being a successful business. These companies can at times have awful reputations for asset stripping etc to ensure profits are achieved, however equally we found oursb to be excellent and fully supportive in what we were trying to achieve.
It comes down to intent and ethics of the fund creators and managers. And when you then get into the realm of turnaround and corporate recovery. I know some really good guys in that sector.... but its safe to say I wouldn't let a single one of them near anything of mine if i cared for it and valued it.
I keep seeing GG referenced as this great communicator. Was he? Did he do more in terms of interviews than Dane Murphy has? Remembering he's been in situ for less than five months. Or did GG seem like a regular communicator because the team at the club created the opportunities for him to do so? Mental health, female toilets, etc. Take those examples away and we didn't hear from him very often, but he was fairly active and visible on Twitter.
The outrage is if the owners are paying back what they paid for the club by using funds from player sales, like it appears they did at Nice. That's not the way to keep fans on your side.
I dunno really, I always thought GG came across very well and always got the feeling he had time for the fans and wanted to interact with them. The new fella has barely said 1 word, we don't really know anything about him and with recent happenings I think it's a massive shame he hasn't come out and updated the supporters on A) the search for a manager and B) updating the supporters on plans for the short term future. We always got updates from Gauthier, he semnt very hands on. This new guy? I just don't see the point. Conway is clearly still involved massively in the day to day running of the club so I don't really understand this Murphy fellas position. Why have a dog and bark yourself? The club's gone very North Korea on us. I don't like it one bit.
Where to start? The apparent business model does not depend on fans to a great extent. 10000 season tickets = 4 million pounds. a drop of half loses 2 million or half of what we sold Moore for. We aren't important, hence the lack of engagement from the club.??
