RE: Kayo - will cause people problems Been impressed with him every time I've seen him. Very rough around the edges ... but he's got potential. The BNP Blah Bar Bunch aren't too happy about his signing I bet. Wait until they see Ricketts flying down the wing too.
RE: Guess work Sir Alex "play Nardy with Stallard" Ferguson? He should stick to big posh football - which he's the best in the world at. Eckersley was playing in the reserves regularly & Jones was on loan at roughly 783 different clubs ... if he didn't see them play, then he's a joey. Lucas looks to have his best days well behind him. Mattis looked pretty decent in the basement division - but, in my opinion, was thrown in at the deep end & has been fecked over big time by Davey ... he's actually a better player than we've seen. Lewin was known by everyone on the planet, so Davey didn't exactly require any type of "lead". Kyel Reid was being touted around like mad ... and if Davey did see him, and still decided to sign him, then that doesn't bode well for Werling, Broomhandle et al. Saw Ritchie twice pre-season at dinner events. He said we might go down if we don't spend a few quid - and all that would keep us up, of we don't spend, is sticking with a small squad with good spirit. Ritchie stuck with his players too long. Davey played a masterstroke by bringing in the hard working Hungarian gents. Both made mistakes, both had successes ... the fact is - it's history and this season will tell us where we are.
RE: Guess work You really do have a problem with letting go dont you?</p> Everything you say seems to be angled to have a dig at Ritchie.</p>
Correct. Sweetcorn is yellow - like a banana I suppose. The example I gave at the end of last season where the bloke shouting racist abuse for the first 45 minutes was confronted by the steward at half time, who turned out to be his best mate & asked if they were going out that night, says everything about how backwards some people attached to our club still are.
RE: Guess work http://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/BBS/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=77721&mid=496348#M496348</p> Who is that last line aimed at?</p>
RE: Everything I should have said when you get on the defensive about any of the signings Davey makes.</p> Sorry.</p>
Even this one, http://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/bbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=77721&mid=496324#M496324</p> You may not mention in name but I cant see who else you could be on about.</p>
RE: Guess work not that I can really be arsed to ever justify what I put on here, but the first mention of Ritchie was waaaay up the tree, there's 2 sides to every story, mine seems to be the less popular. for accuracy, it was a reference to a conversation we had at the Anniversary Dinner, dont get het up about it ****.
RE: Guess work No worries, trying to be positive about the coming season.</p> Dont see the benfit of going on about last season.</p>
Drawing a comparison between current and former manager and its the last for today, I think we're better off with hard graft and home truths than relying on cameradarie. If Im proved wrong, I'll eat humble pie on town all steps.
You can have a love hate relationship with a manager if you respect him. Team spirit can have a massive impact on performance and bring more out of individuals then you'd think them capable of. But if you hate your boss, you need a great captain. People might be underestimating Reid's role in the past and Davey might have established his importance to the squad. Obviously this doesn't make him the best footballer in the world, but the 'squad' will need some stability. Having said that. Davey Out obviously.
