Sounds a bit like the Severn bridges sheets of ice falling from the overhead cables onto cars so they shut the bridges. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7873359.stm The terracing where the sun hasn't been able to get to will still be icy and with temperature dropping again it isn't going to help.
I don't know and I don't care.
There's ice on the terraces. If you think that indicates incompetence I suggest you get round there with your plan for shifting it. If you think they've done it on purpose I suggest you get your bumps felt.

If it was called off due to conditions outside the ground There would be very little point gritting inside the ground. In fact, turning on the undersoil heating looks like a waste of money too.
RE: Applying that logic... Ice has to come from somewhere, it's usually melted snow that's re-frozen. Most of the stands won't get snowed into. I'd say only the Ponty End doesn't get sun and so maybe the first few rows of that might be icy. Rest shouldn't be that bad.
grit/rock salt whatever it is that is the best thing to use, either way it is widely available and could have been used could it not?
So the wind won't blow snow into places where it can freeze? Sorry but I can't see why people are getting so wound up about why the match has been called off, at the end of the day it has and both clubs and the officials have agreed to it.
"Most of the stands won't get snowed onto." That's just wrong.
Snow gets to lots of places rain doesn't
And how do you propose to keep everyone away from the icy areas? And anyway AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH! I don't care if it's because Dr Freeze froze it with his freezy freeze gun, I'm telling thee there's fecking ice on the stands.

If you dont care then why are you being so vociferous in the defence of your own hypothesis? I suggest that there was no desire at the club for the game to go ahead. 1.There are not any terraces. The vast majority of spectator areas will not have been affected by snow. 2. The club have stated the reason for the postponement to be the state of the surrounding areas 3. Its not snowed in anger for 36 hours 4. The roads and pavements around the area are almost clear 5. The weather forecast for today and tomorrow were/are good 6. My garden / house / street are practically free of snow and less than 300 yards from the ground I give up.
See the Rhinos game tonight... One stand closed - the one that's uncovered and has been snowed on, the rest of it is fine.
I wasnt keen on everyine condensed sweat & breath dripping on me last home game would have been worse tomorrow Dont fancy a plummeting icile going through top of my skull either
football club was eager to play the game ,cleared the car park of snow ,gritted all way round the ground .apparently road/causeways up and around the newspaper corner shop was of concern .
Oh and dont tell Windy because apparently its off because of killer icicles dangling from the stands, skating rinks on the terraces, around the pitch and snow drifts on the seats. Gospel.
