Meant to be meeting a mate on Friday for drinks. Their friend who they saw Saturday has tested positive for Covid, and they also have symptoms so have gone for a test. But the guidance is that even if they test negative they still have to self isolate for 14 days. Seems a strange rule that one.
The lunatics have taken over the asylum. If anyone can make sense of what is going on they are either a fascist or a moron, so I wouldn't worry.
And if you go out, even with a negative test. Its committing an offence. Which you can be fined for. Should get get collared by a Vid marshall... they can if they choose to use "reasonable force" to get you back to your address and/or increase your fine if they believe you've acted recklessly.
if im right, and im often not i believe if they have symptoms but a negative test is returned they have to isolate because the test isnt 100% accurate. world beating.
Sounds like the guidance to self isolate is due to the previous contact with a positive case, not because of the symptoms. In which case, the incubation period of the infection is still unknown, so could be a false negative. I think. Clear as mud.
Yet if my wife has to self isolate because of contact with someone who is postive me and my daughter don't have to
had to laugh this morning in mexbro, an elderly couple outside shouting up to their kids & grandkids " we're off now as we're both isolating, love you "
The test tends to be over zealous. It was developed for use in the lab to show presence of the virus rather than for use on people to show presence of the disease. Inert viruses and virus fragments give a positive result. Having said that, nothing of this nature is 100%, so I'm sure there are false negatives, but significantly fewer than false positives. Many who believe they were asymptomatic having tested positive never actually had the infection.
Its better than that - if they test positive they have to isolate for 10 days if they test negative they have to isolate for 14 days
Anyone else got one of the alerts from NHS app saying you may have been in contact with someone else who has got covid? I did last Friday so had test but came back negative
One of the lads at work had symptoms, we had to go and get tested ( Army policy) we were in a queue, they took my details but after 2 hours I binned waiting and came home, on Tuesday I got a email saying I had tested positive, ( i got a early slot the next day, negative result). I aint no tin foil hat wearer at all but something appears not to be right
I'm really ill and really down in the dumps. Never had so little energy and never had a banging head like this. And I feel I have been kicked in the ribs. Me and the Mrs have been careful and done all the right stuff. The only time we have possibly been 'at risk' was taking the kids back to Uni last week - one at Northumbria - one at Liverpool. Straight in - straight out, but aye, I guess they are both high-risk areas and we could only do the best we could. Last weekend we both started feeling rough. Very rough. She tested positive, I went for a test - result came today - negative. Yet I still feel pants. I cannot wait for this madness to be over :-(
Hope you’re both feeling better soon AM. Mate of mine and his wife currently self isolating in their holiday flat in Filey, he feels like he has flu she can’t walk 10 feet before she’s coughing and gasping for breath. Both in their 50’s and like you and your mrs they’ve been careful and done all the right things. Others I work with have had mild symptoms and hardly known they’ve had it. Chin up you won’t feel like this forever.
Yeah, thought the idea of isolating for 14 days even if the test is positive is down to the incubation period of the virus. I didn't think that unless you had symptoms yourself that you should have been tested, even if alerted to being in close proximity to someone who has tested positive.
