    does registration etc...

    recognise capital letters etc?

    ie, the varley who broke the news on Hecky was

    Varley (with a capital V)

    and the varley who states this one is

    varley (without a capital v)

    good detective work there I think

    would this be an issue???

    You can be registered but not have your password at work like me so you use a guest name, of which you decide what it is.

    Whether you are registered or not is irrelevant.

    it's always been so

    if I'm in a hurry I don't sign in-but still use my id-I always thought it was open to abuse-and I'm not clever enough to know if it's fixable?

    I don't even know what my password is, my computer at home automatically signs me in.

    Paul - the service provider's irrelevant as folk have a different provider at home and at work.

    this backs up the entire argument of Guests or not.

    Nobody should be able to sign in as a guest.

    BAN THEM ALL

    you should only be able to sign in from a legitimate registration.

    Now wonder everyone ends up arguing etc, when its possible that you are arguing with a complete nob who has signed in as a guest using another persons name..

    I don't agree with this one bit...

    but..

    that will make no difference,

    as someone can still sign in as a guest and use your name...

    the only way to solve it would be to ban Guest users, and have registration etc...

    There are ways to stop it but I think it'd mean a lot of unnecessary work for city tyke.

    Afterall if you want people to be sure that it is you then just sign in. People will know it is you because of your avatar, signature and the fact that your name is red. Nobody can impersonate that (without being clever)

    It'll not happen I'm afraid....

    I have asked about it in the past and Site admin have stated a preference for Guests to be allowed to post. One of the points was that the amount of posts reduced significantly and the content was not as good. </p>

    I do see the point about the number of posts but I am not a fan of people being able to use other peoples moniker.</p>
