Is this head of recruitment the same head of recruitment that Redstar referred to, the contract manager from the hospital, or is it a different head of recruitment?
I've no idea - but one exists. That's why he's referred to as 'Head of Recruitment' because if they'd have said Nick Jones or whatever he's f.cking called no one would've had a clue.
I think that there is a separate Chief Scout too...John Forrest...https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&r...69/a54&usg=AFQjCNEx9OletT6w3k7dgzVQFD0W3BhdYg
This might be a very sad answer, but Brian Young is identified as the chief scout for Barnsley in Football Manager. So I suspect 'head of recruitment' is his way of boosting his job title a bit, rather than a claim to be the top dog.
"We have brought in Brian Young as head of recruitment and I've enjoyed working with him. We have a 'Black Box Room' where we've got all the potential signings' details and statistics." http://www.barnsley-chronicle.co.uk/sport/article/10096/cranie-and-nyatanga-wanted
So we've concluded there's a transfer committee. What's new? Is LJ supposed to assess every potential target as well as the current playing squad? If so I'm not surprised results haven't been great. I'd hope no one is naive enough to believe LJ doesn't get the final say on whether we bring someone in or not.
Whether it's a separate person or not I do think Johnson is trying to say things without saying them. Of course there is this and then there was the time he picked himself and Hecky for the subs bench when we hardly had any players.
Strangely enough, he should have scouts that go out and look at players he has identified, then come back and report to him about what they saw. Then if he likes what he hears/reads he either watches them himself or goes to the board and tells them he wants that player. The board then get in touch with the players club and ask to speak to the player, then talk to player and ask him to meet him and his agent about a transfer, then the manager and chairman, meet said player and agent and either agree a transfer with them or not, if they do, they then try and agree a fee with his club. Now this is the way transfers have been done for years, I know I am old fashioned and a stick in the mud, but it worked for all that time, why bugger about having committees etc and ending up with players the manager does not want ?
Yeah he's trying to tell us that PC promised that LJ would be his last recruit. So..... now that BB is officially Mr. Recruitment, BB instead can get rid of LJ without PC breaking his vow in having to do it himself. Genius.
So depending on how we interpret what was said our head of recruitment is either Ben or some bloke who used to work in the medical sector.
So what? I can't be bothered to read this thread, but having worked in multi-national companies all my life, the bloke who usually has the title of 'Head of xxxx' knows bugger all about 'xxxx' and just manages the general process. No doubt Ben uses his skilful sales patter to swing the deal and his experience as an agent to structure contracts to get a deal that suits the club. That will be his area. But I hardly think he is going out shopping on his own for players with a sweet left peg without the coaching staff being party to it.
