    Only time I've been involved in the music selection for a club night was when the DJ got fed up of my obscure requests and let me bring in a few CDs for him to play. </p>

    Problem was (as with most of my cds) they weren't in the best condition, so 20 seconds into the first song he chose from my options, it starts skipping, much to the joy of most people there! This happened a few times with different cds before he vowed never to play anything else I offered again!</p>

    It's mainstream music. Sorry, but it bugs me when the mainstream gets described as indie just because they use a guitar. This site http://www.indie-mp3.co.uk/ writes about indie music.

    I agree with what you're saying, literally that's what indie is. But I think nowadays...well maybe the last 5/10 years, indie has become a genre of its own. Pop bands with guitars, usually 'the' something, with fake accents and silly haircuts playing bland watered down rock.</p>

    But I do see what you mean, and I do agree. I just have major issues with 90% of the bands championed by NME.
