Bless. Are you still under the impression that Hecky would have actually come back to this basket case of a club? Head in the clouds I'm afraid.
Not sure he saw Leeds coming as he’d signed that contract a while before and it was something that had been promised/negotiated well before that but it wasn’t made public due to Patrick’s passing. I was also led to believe there was a bit of a break down of relationship before he left.
Heckys lost his last 2 before today... we have won once away all season. Hecky has 20million pound midfielder in berger who scored we have matty wolfe from accademy and bring on palmer both who we paid nothing for. Managing barnsley and one of the most expensive sides in the championship in united is chaulk and cheese
I think that neither of us know the full facts on this. But if Hecky had signed the contract a while before, why wouldn't that have been made public? I can't see why it would have been a negative, even at the time of Cryne's passing? The appearance of the release clause still looks like opportunism to me.
Disagree. It was what I’d heard from the club at the time and Hecky subsequently. He also talks about it in great detail here: as well as why it wasn’t announced to keep some good news for further down the line and the issues at the club that made him want to leave (recruitment, fancy that) There had been discussions about a new contract since promotion.
This thread is quite funny take yesterday 20 million pound midfielder scores. Then hecky brings on a 18million pound striker and we bring on devante cole..... But the op is saying we missed a trick and hecky would do a better job than poya. Not really struck on poya but based on what? Because he has won a few games with one of the most expensive sides in the championship.
Very interesting listen, and I'm happy to stand corrected. But equally, although it's different to what I had assumed, it also disproves the narrative of PH signing a new deal one minute and then disappearing the next. It would seem that was the narrative that GG put out to deflect any blame for the way BFC were being run. I suppose that was his job, but it strikes as less than honest. The interview also reminds us just what an intelligent footballing brain Hecky has - also a willingness to continue learning.
If I'm not mistaken he signed the new contract with a get out clause which netted us £500.000 compensation...so how's that been overlooked he'd no need to sign a contract the one he had was a rolling contract ...by doing so it.tells me he was thinking about the club he loves making money ... Also don't forget that him and Patrick were also at logger heads when Patrick died... ...over the way the club was been run...ie contracts.. lack of vision and the fact his role was taking on more responsibilities than needed ie Ceo work at one point.... If those in charge had treated him right who knows what could have been achieved. He was let down big time and they didn't like the fact he wasn't a yes man ....
The contract situation for winnall and conor was missed for whatever reason but if a player wants to go they will regardless of if there months or 3 years left on there contract. Fact is back then the club was run alot better than it is been now the transparency with the fans, the signings back then as opposed to now, money in the kitty i could go on. When hecky and morais got us relegated we had a good squad alot better than the one poya has to pick from hecky had spent the most a barnsley manager has ever in that summer window. But when things werent going good it was everyone elses fault. Back then we had a good squad, money in the bank. Now squads not so good, were skint and our best players are loans. When a few seasons ago conman said the club wouldnt be loaning players and blooding other teams players.
He left because of this lot coming in & after being shafted by the last lot. He's gone on to manage good clubs, never been out of work & on the cusp of turning around a big side and getting them promoted. Hibs since have been *****. Leeds since have brought in world renowned coaches. Always nice to see local lads done good get rounded on by their own. Strange mentality.
Or you could say wembley for 20 million pound midfielder sander berge or 24 million brewster or 18 million pound mcburnie but job cemter for victor and palmer... our squad and sheffild uniteds chaulk and cheese 100million+ squad.
Yes he left because these came in and a mix of he wanted out and they wanted there own man but come on. He had one of the biggest clubs in scotland in a relegation battle and won 3 games in half a season at leeds beilsa came in and took them up with the exact same side.
Apart from signing Patrick Bamford for £7m, a keeper from Real Madrid, the best full back in the Championship for another £7m and a couple of other lads from major european clubs aye - same squad. Not sure 'he wasn't as good as Bielsa' is a great argument tbf mate.
The season hecky had them he managed 3 league wins in half a season and 1 was against us. He turned a team in 7th into relegation fodder hence the tag paul mekingleedsbottom he got. Beilsa then got the same team to the play offs bar douglas he signed from wolves for 5million not 7 the signed the others after.
Should have been backed in the first place. Idiot short term thinking has got us where we are. Good luck to Paul and hope the season ends well for him.
