And there's the crux of the matter - whatever happens, however tenuous, however obvious a matter may be - he was right all along, nobody else has his insight. That's the whole point behind it all.

 

To be honest he should be ‘interested’ in the job, as much as I respect Cryne he’s sacked plenty of managers over the years & as much as I’d love him to Hecky shouldn’t stay here his whole career just because he’s from Barnsley. If he wants to achieve things in his managerial career you’ve got to be realistic & say how much more can he do with Barnsley than take us to mid table obscurity?

I hope if he does speak to Sunderland he decides they’re a basket case of a club & turns it down, similar to Clough with Forest.

All this ‘Sunderland are skint’ is ********, they’ve got big earners who’ll be coming off the books next June, they’re receiving parachute payments for at least another 2 & a half seasons & they’ve got some of, if not the biggest crowd in the league.

Anyone who honestly thinks we can compete with them financially is delusional.

If he took over I’m sure his job would be safety this season then try to push on next year when there’s more of a budget.

I don’t think keeping them up is that big of an ask when you look at ourselves, Burton, Bolton, Birmingham, Brentford, Millwall etc. I’m sure he’d be able to leapfrog 3 of them

Nudger why do you think that someone who does not own the football club would be allowed to start speaking to it's staff about their future positions. It just doesn't make sense. Until anything is signed, sealed and delivered the only people who should be making any assurances to the manager are the current board / owners.

I completely agree with you but we know how fickle football fans are, a few wins & you’re brilliant.

Look at Lee Johnson on here, finished with 6 straight wins & some Barnsley fans talk like he did a good job here

 

The only positive to come out of Hecky going, is how entertaining Hemmsy's posts will be when we promote Bobby Hassell to head coach as a replacement...

 

In the long tradition on here of posting absolute speculation bordering on bs and calling it prescience how about this...
if I were Hecky I'd definitely consider showing an "interest" in a big job just to ginger up any contract offer here that may or may not be round the corner.
