I’m not saying he was perfect, he made mistakes but I think he got a lot more right than wrong & was managing the club in almost unmanageable circumstances. I’ll be honest I wasn’t really a fan of Barnes although he was capable of the odd moment of quality I felt his attitude was poor at times. I remember one particular home game when he just watched an opposing player run off him which ended up costing us a goal but obviously he was an option & we were left desperately short of options around December / January time when Barnes went back, Isgrove & Hedges were crocked & Ugbo went back. I agree about Birmingham & Hull but they both had far superior teams to ours & should’ve never been threatened with relegation in the first place. Really we should’ve been competing with Bolton & Burton & should’ve finished above both with our January recruitment. He pretty much had to play 3-5-2 that game with Gardner & Williams both unavailable, many on here were suggesting it in the week before the game, no one would trust any 2 of Potts, Mallan & Moncur in a central 2. Didn’t really have a choice with the 4-5-1, he tried a front 2 but Ugbo wasn’t up to it & Thiam wasn’t fit enough to start until Christmas time (just wish we’d had McBurnie all season). I know every clubs a selling club within reason but none lose 8 of their first 11 within a season unless they’re in a financial crisis & if they do they wouldn’t replace them with kids. It goes against all logic on how to achieve success. People talk about Southampton & Swansea been in crisis for losing 2 key players in a window yet we were losing 4 or 5 key players in both windows & replacing them with kids. We spent money but it was on kids & we were still making a huge profit. If we’re signing players of no use to the first team who might one day be good enough then it’s not very helpful to the first team
I’m the pudding yet you’re the one who’s spent the past few months dishing out personal insults & getting into rows with people. No debate just insults, no surprise
The blokes spent time with his kids which I like. The blokes loved Leeds out of money which I like. The bloke knew when to move from a job he was going to get sacked from, earned his hometown club half a million in contract buyout and farted in a club I dislikes nostrils which I like. I’d have bought him a pint.
