It's ******* mental to write off Mowatt as a CM, when Hourihane signed for us he produced goals and assists but looked like he was made out of tracing paper. As bad as it was I'd suggest that Mowatt's tackle in his first game suggests that he has the fight in him to adapt as Hourihane did and possibly become a complete midfielder. I heard he's been putting in extra fitness sessions whilst the rest of the squad were on holiday so I'm definitely not going to write him off.
Hourihane had played over a 100 games in central midfield and is both is and was a completely different player to Mowatt. He rarely misses a game or gets injured. In his first 10 games he scored 7 goals and won player of the month I'm not writing Mowatt off but you have to play him in the correct position.
I think everyone just needs to calm down a bit, we've not played a game yet let's see how these lads get on for a few games before writing them off.
I'm not writing anyone off. I think that most of the players will be able to play a role in the squad this season. My worry and what pisses me off is not the quality of those brought in but simply that we have brought in nowhere near enough players and a lack of numbers can only end in disaster.
Aimed at those saying Moncur etc can't play CM, give them a chance first. Completely agree we need more players but let's not forget that loads of transfers happen at the back end of August and we've still got plenty of spaces for loans left.
