No one was going to move too early for him if he’s been injured. Why pay his wages for another few weeks knowing he’s unable to play?
2 wanted to go, Brittain we got a decent fee n everyone skated him to death n Helik and Styles were always going, I’m not that surprised them 5 have/are going
Doesn’t matter who we sell it’s difficult to see us recruiting anyone of any note this season. Perhaps just go with what we have and see where it gets us.
That probably isn't our fault though. A lot of clubs wait around first. If clubs have bid for Helik, and we've turned them down because they dont meet our valuation, good, that's what the fans want. But we can't then say it's taken too long when someone has met the valuation. I do get where you're coming from though.
If money is being offered - even if it’s not top dollar BFC will need to accept it and get one of our top earners off the books. Sorry if this doesn’t suit.
not the point I was making you implied we weren’t having a fire sale we clearly are. More than 5 have left.
Again not the point. We have had a fire sale whether you agree with it or not and are left with an awful unbalanced squad with only 3/4 players actually good enough to play at a top end L1 club. All quality has gone. The owners have financially mismanaged the club to the point that we will struggle to finish outside the bottom 8.
I didn’t/don’t want them to go but holding on to them isn’t and wasn’t an option unless that option is threatening the future of the club.
Whether you call it a fire sale or not it was absolutely imperative that the club reduced the wage bill and got money in for players where possible. Neerav was less than subtle about the need to do this at his presser post the board changes. The cash injection from the owners probably allowed the club to knock back initial offers that were well short of their valuation. In the fullness of time we’ll know what players are sold for and the financial issues the club faces. Resetting the cost base of the club will impact the resources available to the manager but given time the club can recover if managed well.
To be honest it is only a fire sale when you actually sell something, if you get rid of something it is different , not sure how many players we have actually sold but time to reflect is after the window closes & then you can assess the bought & sold columns .
This has actually happened the cash injection ? you said it would appear in the filing history (which it hasn't) have you any idea what a normal amount of time would be for it to appear there once done. would have thought it would have been virtually instant or within days without actually knowing the procedures. or does it update periodically at set timeframes
Sheff Utd just sold a 17 year old (never played for the first team) to Spurs for 2.5 Million. 2 Million for Helik is probably not enough, but i'm sure we'll take it
I don’t know if it has or hasn’t happened. If they did it by changing the share capital through a rights issue it would appear as a filing at companies house. However, if they did this at BFC investment then this could be structured as a parent company loan. Under that scenario then there would be no filing under Barnsley Football Club to reflect this.
I think it was 2 million according to most outlets. There's a big difference mate. We're selling to Huddersfield, not a champions league club. The lad just signed a contract as well to get them more money. Helik's in his last year, league one player, terrible season just gone. I'd be disappointed if it's less than 2 millionish though.
