There are two decent lads here who came after been sacked by ASOS. The stories I hear about that place are bizarre, and quite staggering. It sounds like hell.

So if he can hack it there, then he is definitely missing a trick here.

But if he's working again, maybe he did try here? I can only go on what I know and see and I know for a fact that anyone who rings the agency and after been fobbed off then rings again will get an interview. It's their way of seeing who is keen apparently.

You need to remember, though - Bossman's lad rang em up as I said, at the same time as your kid. He was set on with his mate (who has since got another job) within days.

They just want folk who turn up, and want to work. And it's all for M&S so it's never going to be in jeopardy on that front.

It will only get busier here now, as we head towards Xmas, where your wage will be doubled with bonuses each week etc.

I'm hopeful of summat popping up over here that takes my fancy (I can afford to be a bit choosy) but as I say, until then, I can't grumble. I quite enjoy it and 90% of the lads are good for banter/atmosphere etc.

It's just not something I want do for the rest of my life, and the commute is the real killer for me.

I hope he cracks on at ASOS. But trust me, there's jobs here.

Well mate thanks for the advice, I am going to get him to read this and then I am going to stand over him while he calls the agency. ASOS is a terrible place from what he tells me and I'd prefer him to get somewhere else but it's work so the pressures off him a bit now, until January anyway.

    Pilleyphil you said

i had redundacy 3 years ago company pension+ lump sum told i could not claim job seakers and they could not help me with job searches -said i had to look on internet
after 36 years of work could not get any benifits -can claim for deependants but not for yourself as i am divorced and no dewpendants ---no help at all-now have 20 hr contract job

Much the same scenario as myself but you would have qualified for job seekers. Everyone does.
You'd have been entitled to 6 months contributions based JSA then after you'd go on to income based JSA. It's then that any pension and savings comes into the equation and if you have looked after yourself what with putting money away for a rainy day etc you are punished and told you get nothing. And yet if you had squandered your redundancy money and spent spent spent and really enjoyed yourself only then would they help you.

This is where IMO the system is all wrong.
