    I didn't vote because I thought all three options were poor and a new design should have been created. I seem to remember him saying something about the rose not representing the town which was why they were having a vote.

    Does anyone remember the first appearance of Toby Tyke as we know him, in all his costumed glory?

    My Dad seems to think it was in the early 80's but he couldn't be sure. He also speculated that a rise in Offical Club Mascots (in costume) came around after the infamous World Cup Willie in 1966. And by this I mean the mascot as we know them today and not Amos in the 1910's or Millwall's Lion in the 1920's?

    I remember playing Leicester City in the FA Cup and Barnsley parading a real bull dog with a rosette on its collar.1967 I think.

    I thought it was around the time the East Stand opened (circa 1993). Then again that could have been when we used an on-pitch announcer for the first time.

    Toby Tyke costume was introduced

    in 1994 I believe. First time I saw it was at an openday in the East Stand. The guy behind its introduction was Ian Davies from the marketing department who argued for months that the £700 cost would be money well spent.

    Just to be certain—the Toby Tyke logo has never been on a kit, right?

    It's dominant on memorabilia and is seen from on everything from collection buckets to bins but I still don't know where it came from. It seems to be a prominent badge over the last 10-15 years and regularly represents the Club in the media (I've seen it used in The Guardian, The Sun and other red top tabloids, also on the BBC—although TV, the majority of the time, seems to get it right.

    What are peoples opinions on this badge representing the Club?

    Anyone remember any further details on the vote Mr Doyle cast out to the fans, inviting them to pick the next Barnsley FC badge, circa 200/03?

    As far as I remember, Red Flag was just a branding that was created by a couple of fellas who worked for Admiral. </p>

    Don't know the full details, but two chaps who worked for Admiral decided to pitch for the shirt deal and called the firm Red Flag, no doubt because it was created simply to supply BFC kit (don't think they did any others) and it was a piece of p*ss to design (and therefore cheap).</p>
