It’s his speed that lets him down but his quality on a three man midfield might give him a chance in the league above. He is better than us and prob deserves a move. He was outstanding last year and went under the radar due to Connell and the worldies from Phillips. He’s also ran many games this year.

I still think the possibility of joining Bristol City is real. They’ve also got a manager who’s seen how good he is first hand.

He is a good player , however the money spent on him initially, a total waste of money, considering he walks free at the end of the season.
    That's my opinion.
Cole was signed for free , so in comparison a good signing.

Where does Manning know Kane from? He only took over at Oxford last season, Kane wasn’t there then.

They need to be able to communicate with other human beings and at least give the impression they're vaguely enjoying it!

There’s a handful of players across the world who might get away with such an interview…. Kane isn’t one of them.

He’s had his media training, and is a professional footballer for a number of years. He knows what he’s doing. Answers from all players are always the same anyway.

(Cantona and Ibrahimovich would be two who could get away with it)….

I'd argue the opposite - he's not better than us and his deficiencies were masked by having Connell alongside him last season. The games he runs are games against poor opposition where he has time on the ball. Against better opposition who don't allow him that time he's ineffective and a big reason why our record against top half opposition is poor.

He's OK at this level. He puts in some decent performances, the odd very good performance, but plenty of subpar performances too. A good player, imho, is someone you can rely on to play well week in, week out and only rarely drop below that standard. That isn't Kane.

Not sure where to start with "He is better than us". He isn't.

    As for this interview...

If this is what he's like, if that's how he comes across all the time, then the club should not be sending him out to talk to the media. The fault is with them.

If he's not like that usually, but really struggles when being interviewed and it's making him uncomfortable then, again, he shouldn't be given these duties. It's really not fair and again the club are at fault.

But if he's capable of better than that, and I hope for his sake he is, and he's being deliberately off hand and dismissive, then it's not acceptable. There are players much, much better than he is, international players, players from the top teams in the game, who would be severely sanctioned for giving such an interview. If they dared do so in the first place which the vast majority would not.

He *thinks* he's better than us, which in a footballer would be a good attitude to have as long as it came with the correct application and desire to still do well for his football club.

Unfortunately I think its more a case of "im better than this club and this club have stalled my career too many times so its minimum effort until I'm gone at the end of the season"

He has the pace of an overfed slug and the physical presence of a butterfly. He is not an athlete. There is little he can do about that. He would not get anywhere near many of the Barnsley teams of the past 30 years. He is a symptom of where we are currently as a club. I think he tries his best and is probably a nice guy but his limitations are obvious. Unfortunate about the interview - I think his attitude might have been quite deliberate. Collins must be furious. A transfer to Bristol Rovers or Cheltenham would be good for him.

I'll try not to read things into that interview but it is difficult. Very difficult. Looks like the club haven't posted the interview to iFollow. I think that sums it up really.

It was on iFollow yesterday, as that's where I viewed it. However, I've just checked and it's not there today.

The thing I don’t get is why loads of you think it’s ok to abuse players, management, staff at the club etc, take the piss out of his hairline but you can’t deal with him been a bit grumpy in an interview.

Don’t you think he’s a bit pissed off? He’s probably wanting to kick on with his career & have another go at promotion & despite making a fortune (by our standards) on Kitching & Anderson we’ve replaced them with novices & haven’t extended the contracts of any of our soon to be out of contract players.

Out of the ones who’ve been available pretty much all season he’s been our best player alongside Cole. He tries every game & never shirks. Always shows for the ball & rarely misses a game. He can’t help that he’s not 6 foot tall & isn’t a sprinter.

Spot on. I do feel in the summer the club was in a hard place, I heard we had loads of interest in players kane probably been one of them. We let Anderson go for a good fee and kitching at the end of the window for a very good fee(i know we replaced them with lesser players), but if we had cashed in on cadden,Williams, kane and Cole aswell there would have been uproar. No ambition, selling club, cashing in on assets etc. The club can't win sometimes they sell and the fans are on there back they don't and the players are miserable as hell wanting out and some it's showing on the pitch.

if we are taking about Herbie Kane, what can he expect after that disgraceful interview. It shows disrespect for the fans who are contributing to his wages and incredibly also demonstrates an obvious disrespect the greatest trier in the club Luca Connell. That is a very disruptive thing to do.

    Kane?
Just shows how we can watch the same matches ( I assume you've seen them?) and come away with polar opposite opinions, both to be valued.

I thought Kane was brilliant under Duff, but is not alone this season in struggling to implement Collins tactics, things just don't seem right and I can understand it if he's frustrated.
