He's great if he has plenty of time on the ball, ordinary at best if he doesn't. A poor man's Stephen McPhail and no great loss for me.
Am I the only person who finds it worrying how many players leave Barnsley and who seem pretty negative about the club? Or the number of backroom staff who've left in recent years.
Your better off thinking about the number of players and backroom staff who have left but still live in Barnsley.
Exactly there must be some culture that exists that doesn’t make them feel valued. But we advertise being a stepping stone so I guess in some ways we are getting what we offer back in return.
Herbie Kane looked disinterested, IMO, because of the style of football and tactics he was asked to adhere to. He couldn't handle the fans getting on his back with more than one exchange with the ESL as if to say "I'm only doing as I'm pheck1ng told". But mark my words he will thrive in an attacking team with experienced forward players to work towards. I predict in 12 months time we will get lots of "look at him now - amazing - why couldn't he do that for us". Well he could. And he did. But not often enough in a team that simply wasn't set up to use his talents. Unlike the Chelsea method of buying up any young talent that looks good in a football kit (Kiwomya) Herbie came from an elite academy for good reason. He could play football. I miss him so much, already ;-)
Words duly marked. I reckon if he remains in League 1 he'll do OK, like for us, Donny and Oxford. And if he signs for a Championship team he'll not play much.
He finished joint 5th in the BBS Player of the Season poll, so he wasn't that poor TBH. He just faded like many of the others, whether that was disinterest, or just poor form, I'm not sure. He's a decent L1 midfielder. Maybe he could go higher, but I've not seen enough consistency from him to think he will make it in the Championship.
Good point. I was talking about this the other day when relating to my own experiences. Not all people are mentally tough. Some need to feel appreciated, regardless of it being work or sport.
They’re in good company really, as so many fans are of the same mindset. Out of interest, how many players are we talking about? Not sure if it’s true, but I heard Mike Flynn called us a ‘strange set of fans’.
