I'm not especially saying we should. I was just having a moan as I don't like it much.
I'd be happy if they kept the crest and did something with that stark white background.

Good discussion. I like the current badge. Links the club to the town and it’s history and I think that’s important. Barnsley doesn’ Really represent anything anymore, well nothing that’s decent anyway. By the way, i’m 15.

Said the same for years. It looks cheap and makes our kits look like they were bought from Barnsley Market with an iron on badge

Wonder what protection the club have on the crest, seeing as it is the towns coat of arms.

It was one of the reasons Leeds changed theirs from the old circular white rose if I remember right...

Everyone has their own personal favourite that they would like to see but this one is mine. I remember in the 90's we did pretty well with merchandise with the toby tyke badge on them.

My reasoning for preferring it is the high contrast using black in it. You could modernise the fonts and sharpen toby up, maybe make it more stylistic. You could even look to the simplified versions of wolves, or.... another slant... look at St pauli

You could easily follow such a slant and have some iconic image centred on a black centre. If we're going to improve, bring on board new followers and try and appeal to modern markets, a modernised, potentially edgy identity is a way to go.

St pauli aren't the biggest club, but they have admirers for their support and very edgy design stance. There is no reason we couldn't follow suit and shift the paradigm by having much edgier away kits and merchandising while keeping the traditional home strip.

I like the simple ones, like the rat eating bin dippers, Swansea, Forest, Wolves, Spurs, The old ones of Chelsea, Arsenal, Millwall, Rangers, and so on. So it’ll come as no surprise when I say I really like this effort from our neighbours.

What I don't get is how the same company that came up with that also came up with the monstrosities that were our designs. How is that even possible?

They’ll Have been asked to come up with a terrier design, if we’d have made a decision on what we wanted ie, a bulldog, Yorkshire Rose, Oakwell, a bloke with heartburn thumping his chest, the out come may have been a lot better.

If we were ever to lose the coat of arms crest this would be my choice too.

Barnsley own the rights to the Toby tyke badge. The club has given permission to the fit reds community team to use it on their shirts. on their shirts. Image1531559282.405702.jpg
