Nice to win but there was a lack of cohesiveness and punch in the 2nd half which will probably be obscured by the fact we scored 3 goals early on. Too sloppy, too many bad decisions. The team looks tentative and unsure of itself in spite of moments of individual skill. Basically they don't look like a very good unit to me and by this stage I think that's down to the manager. As I say though its nice to win.
definitely think Collins has too much of a safety first attitude to him, they were there for the taking, it’s not even as if we have a game at the weekend
How long until you call Watters inferior to whoever it is that plays instead of him? It seems even the manager has got that message. Watters looks like he ought to be a good footballer, fast and clinical, a sharp passer. But brief glimpses of what might be, overwhelmed by weak challenges and poor hold ups and layoffs don't cut it. Cosgrove is on the same journey as Watters as well at the moment. There was more in Marsh's one cross tonight than we've saw in the efforts of either of those two for weeks. Compare that with Watters butting out of a challenge when we were attacking down the right, early against Derby. Having said all that, the trouble with all of these "attackers" is a lack of consistency. Cole included. You need someone in your team that you can rely on for a decent game week in week out. We don't have that.
Play like this against any league one team and we’re in trouble, 10 shots all game. Even the ‘better performance’ in the first half we only managed 4 shots. A lot of the players need to have a little bit of professional pride.
Thats the beauty of football, I remember Rotherham fans laughing at us for signing Carlton Morris. Now look where he is.
I thought we played well in the first half. 2nd half was like watching Wednesday against a championship team. Dreadful
Agree with this post when he came on never stopped running made the right runs played cosgrove in twice and on another night he would have left with 2 assists there’s a serious Watters agenda and it’s starting to get boring
I think a lot of the comments on here are pretty disappointing. How often do league one / two sides go to non-league sides & keep the foot down for 90+ minutes trying to humiliate them if the games won? It doesn’t happen. There’s a few concerns, Phillips, Watters & Cosgrove look short of confidence & Shepherd had a bit of a shocker & nearly got Connell crocked in the process but I’m pretty content with what I saw tonight. Hopefully Cosgrove and / or Watters can grab a goal next Tuesday against Bradford before we go again in the league. I think we’ve got to keep trying to play the possession game for the time being even if many find it tedious as that defence isn’t holding up to aerial duels & defending high up the pitch. For all the talk of shifting Williams back to wing back it was evident again tonight how little pace there is in the other centre backs.
I have been intrigued by Horsham chairman Kevin Borrett. I wonder if he is a distant relative of our own Keith Borrett ( former match announcer ) who died several years a go.
No issues with that whatsoever. Get the job done early, make changes, take the foot off the gas and avoid injuries in the second half on a cold night all whilst playing on an artificial pitch.
Enjoyed our day art yesterday, dint get back till 3.30 this morning an what can i say job well done first half, god knows what happened second half dog 5hite, only our second game of the season an i'm glad i aint been going the football is dire, aving said that keep the faith things will, can only get better.
