No, I said the second half of the 1986/87 season was promotion form. In 1993/94 under Viv Anderson we won 7 games out of 9 through February and March which saved our season. However, we then lost 7 of our final 10 games. Danny Wilson didn't sign anyone during his first season in charge yet we finished 6th. In his second season he signed De Zeeuw in November. It wasn't until his third season that he signed Wilkinson and Hendrie.
The counter to that is look how well Wolves did after they sacked Macca last year. If you replace the manager it has to be with a better one or you finish up worse off, who can we sign that will do a better job - thats the difficult question
If and when Hill does leave Barnsley Its all about which direction we take.Do we go for experience,or a young up and coming manager or do we turn back the clock and go for a player manager which over the years has served us well.Ideally I hope Hill can turn things around which may then give us more stability.
You only have to look at the Premier League, where QPR and Chelsea have won one league game between them since replacing managers (and Benitez/Redknapp are arguably among the most successful managers ever in the Premier League). At this level Burnley, Wolves and Blackpool aren't doing fantastically well since getting new managers. Crystal Palace are doing better but not brilliantly and Ipswich are doing best of all, but a lot of that depends on fixtures and the short term effect could wear off...
