Re: It's a very shrewd interview He is if someone is willing to pay that for him. And judging the fees other clubs seem to get for their players I'd say he is.
I've just had a listen to the full interview on Barnsley Player and I think he's got it spot on. Firstly, regarding Butterfield he's totally correct. He's played well and deserves the praise he is getting. His performances aren't getting worse, other teams are just recognising how good he is and are giving him "special treatment" to stop him. He's going to have to learn to deal with that, and Hillcroft will work with him to ensure he does. Secondly, when players do well they attract media interest and the interest of other clubs. I think Keith is very level headed about it, and intimates that that is the reward for playing well. All players should aspire to do the same. Thirdly, Butterfield is doing really well, but he is replaceable. We might not get like for like but we will be able to find another player who can be effective in that position. Lastly, I love the part where he says that getting to the Premier League isn't an achievement in his eyes - but staying there is. I don't think it's a coincidence that the media swarm to talk to Keith, and in turn talk a lot about our players (possibly inflating the value). The same thing happened at Rochdale - I remember seeing numerous videos about how they were doing and wondering why we never got the same treatment. I think the whole thing is about creating a "buzz" around Barnsley FC and he seems to do it very well.
Re: It's a very shrewd interview Howard mcphail were certainly not better than Butterfield. Who's AD?
