Is it really a weak group? There are weaker IMO. We have been functional. No denying we are difficult to beat though. Knocked out on pens. Again.

It was good to see a bit of emotion back on the faces of the England players last night, for a few years it's as if they didn't give a toss. I think when you have people who are uber-professional like most of the experienced England players you end up with people who are almost completely devoid of emotion.

It wasn't particularly entertaining to watch but England didn't do that bad, a shame really as it was a trophy that was there for the taking as no team really stood out as being a cut above everyone else.

It wasn't woeful. We weren't great to watch, although neither were most of the other teams. But there was nothing wrong with the results. I don't think you can describe your tournament performance as woeful when you're undefeated in normal and extra time, but get knocked out on penalties. Not sure what Hodgson could have done in the month he was in charge to break the penalty jinx. Particularly as he had much bigger headaches to cope with. Top of the list being that the players available to him weren't very good.

i thought we played well, 1st half was poor but that was down to them, so defensive. They run out of steam and we hammered them 2nd half, Montenegro were lucky we didnt score 7 or 8
