The trouble is that the hard of thinking that believe this crap can become very dangerous. Although I do accept that perhaps jailing for thought is the start of the road the Nazis took the world down.
Up to his death 20 years ago, our elderly next door neighbour frequently awoke screaming from nightmares. He was part of the British 11th Armoured Division which liberated Bergen-Belsen in 1945. What he witnessed there was to bring on the nightmares for the next nigh on fifty years. He would only talk about what he'd seen to his wife and, even then, refused to go into any detail with her. To contemplate any level of denial of what Fred & others like him witnessed for themselves is,for me, disgusting and despicable.
The estimate of 6 million was made at the and of the war though and I don't think historians have checked that since as they're to scared to, as you say in some countries it's an offense to question the holocaust.
That is so true, I knew there was a savvy Liberal in there!! This is a good film, wait for the bit with the injured football fan.
With freedom comes responsibility and if your thoughts and actions are likely to cause harm to other people or encourage others to do so then you should be on the wrong side of the law.
One of the curious things about governments exterminating large numbers of people in such a fashion is that they all tend to keep (or kept) rather meticulous records of what they did. Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge is a good example.
I remember you mentioning that before. Things should be discussed and remembered. http://bbs.barnsleyfc.org.uk/showth...bout-Treblinka-last-night&highlight=treblinka
The Nazi's did likewise, but they began to destroy evidence once they knew the war was lost. Part of that process was to escalate the killing.
Is "holocaust denial" really something we want people looking at this forum to associate with the fans of this club?
I went on a school trip to Austria and we visited Dachau. I think it's something that everyone should do if they get the opportunity as it gives some (however slight) of what they went through and the shocking cruelty that humans are capable of.
Never forget Always discuss and educate. Learn from history so as not to repeat it. Failure to do so simply encourages the ignorant & bigoted.
There isn't even the remotest question mark over it. The events are factual, they happened and no amount of history skewing by the conspiracy theorists is going to change it.
That depends how you mean inside. If you mean us and the USA used to fund the likes of Bin Laden then yes. There were certainly intelligence failings which can be put down to complacency.
