It was a new build 3 bedroom house in 2017 so there were no problems with installation, and the underfloor heating circuit was designed with a heat pump in mind. The house was extremely well insulated and triple glazed, which helps a lot. As others have said, it's not easy to install a heat pump with existing heating circuits, in a poorly insulated house, as the water temperature is too low. Cost wise the heat pump was very expensive at about £16k, but we get most of that back over 7 years under the Renewal Heat Initiative scheme, so after that time (in 2024) the cost will be comparable with a gas boiler. As far as jumpers are concerned, I don't need one as we also have a wood burner, which I forgot to mention earlier!
