Who knows what will happen 2nd leg, they'll have crowd could go for or against, with what ive seen we play better football on better pitches its all to play for lower averages say were due a goal against them, i think morris needs to start he's our best striker in my opion.if we can score 1 we can score more were still in this and we always make the final.
Can’t see VI chucking the towel in yet. Don’t want us to die wondering - get at them with fast start I know we are capable of and we’ve every chance. More composure from Britain tonight and at least a draw was within reach.
I agree. A bit of luck & a bit sharper in the last 3rd & if we play at the same level we could yet go through. The team & the fans did themselves proud.
It's not over yet. Not conceding a second was important last night. If we can get the first goal at there's, their fans could make a nervous evening! All to play for and we're still in it
I’m staying positive and keep asking myself if I’d be any more confident if we had drawn or won by a single goal last night and the answer is NO. A single goal shouldn’t change the way either team approach the game. Val always sends us out to win and Swansea cant afford to try and defend a 1-0 lead for 90+ minutes so, for me, it’s the next goal that is vital
I think it's over personally. Swansea kept us comfortably at arms length and could have had a second if they wanted. They controlled the tempo of the game and weathered the storm well. Don't want to knock individual players but Brittain had a mare. I'd give him a blow and play Jordan Williams.
Im staying confident. Law of averages says we have to win at some point against em. We knew that Swansea's style suited us least out of the play-off contenders and yesterday in part showed why. However we created chances and on another day may have had a couple or more. Maybe Saturday is that other day. We know what we have to do, i think it's more about motivation and spirit than it is about formation or selection. We need every player on it while (hopefully) Cooper will be contemplating between stick and twist and get stuck in the middle.
Definitely need Morris to start. He can take on, and go past defenders. An example is when he drove forward, and then shot, which the keeper parried out to Brittain, who really should have scored. Often an air of expectation when he's on the ball, reminiscent at times of Ronnnie Glavin.
I feel for Brittain. I think he went for side footed composure and just didn't angle it properly. I think given the situation, smashing the crap out of it was maybe the best option. I was thinking a few days ago, who i'd want more than any other to have a moment of heroics that took us through or up. I toyed with the idea of Woodrow, or Victor or Mads. But I now think i'd want Brittain to have that moment.
Swansea to get an early goal and kill it off. Written it off mate. I wouldn't pay Brittain out in milk buttons. I'm not disappointed. Last night had a weird feel for me and an air of inevitability about it.
I wouldn't be critical of Brittain, he runs himself into the ground and keeps going. he keeps offering for the ball, keeps making the runs, keeps tracking back, keeps putting himself in a position where he may get the cross in or a shot. I can't knock him for that. But sadly in moments of a great chance, he hasn't finished so far. Swansea did what I expected them to. We did what I expected us to. The outcome was slightly better than what i expected. See what Saturday brings.
He didn't do it on purpose. And he had the bravery to be in the position to try. Should we criticise that? Or should we encourage them not to be in the position in the first place?
Like I said in another post though. How does he get in the game when we play the way we do? He can't pull the ball down from 10 yards over his head, beat 2 midfielders, 3 defenders, round a very good keeper and finish. Neither can Dike. For nearly 2 seasons now we're failing to utilise our cleanest striker of a ball and our best finisher. He's trying his heart out. Just watch how much ground he covers and how often he shows for the ball but it never finds him.
I agree. I think I've agreed with you about our style of play too. If I were Woodrow I'd be quite frustrated. Going back to Brittain it is commendable he gets into good positions and has energy. He just lacks quality. I actually think Jordan Williams is the better footballer and it's a shame he got injured just before Brittain came in. It's not that I don't rate Brittian I just don't think he's up to it when you put his performances under the microscope. He probably looks a better player in the flesh without camera angles etc.
