Apols if it comes over as different but I didn't say para 50 hadn't been fulfilled and used the conditional 'should' because there's no firm evidence either way as far as I can see.
For me though, that's part of the reason why SYP have moved our game and not Docasters. Our gate is likely to be higher, even if much lower than a regular match day.
But given the lack of SYP transparency that's just speculation and the likely by-product of moving our game it so reduce the away numbers substantially. There's also a risk of it needing more police on the Friday - I've already heard talk of the less savoury elements of Brighton's support now planning a pan-Sussex likely lads weekend tour taking in Barnsley on the Friday night on their way to Everton on Saturday. That could need more police than a bunch of kids and families on the Saturday afternoon.
Im sure thats the reason - as stated above Accrington are unlikely to take more than 150 on the Saturday dropping to probably around 100 or so on the Friday Horsham would probably bring several hundred regular and part time fans on a Saturday afternoon far fewer on a Friday night thats the result SYP are looking for. I find it hard to believe anyone thinks this is a high risk game from a policing point of view - in fact paradoxically it probably is more likely to get some unsavory elements when its the only game on but not from the regular Horsham fans- There is the comment about Brighton fans making a weekend of it above, and its quite possible some local sheffield and Leeds "fans" may turn up to support Horsham as they arent playing
I'd agree if it said the weekend of the 4th, but it said weekend of the 3rd. I'd say it includes Friday, as a game is often moved to then for TV.
Anyone else had a reply from SYP? Tbh what they've said to me leaves more questions than answers. I guess the positive is that they actually replied which was more than I expected. The only thing of any relevance they said though in their answer though is factually incorrect! They claimed that there were three longstanding fixtures and the Barnsley one was a new one! As we know, the games at Rotherham and Sheff United are league games but the game at Doncaster was established at exactly the same time as our game. I find it shocking that SYP are claiming that the Doncaster game was a longstanding game - there may be one but I can't currently fathom any other explanation than deep ineptitude or plain lying (badly) to try to cover up. As such the reply also confirms that they didn't even consider or talk to Doncaster about the possibility of moving their game which I find equally poor.
Looking on Eticketing it's been a slow start to ticket sales. It could end up with an EFL cup feel for poor Horsham.
That is absolutely laughable. Have you gone back to them to point out their inaccuracy? Not that I’d expect them to respond.
The initial announcement said 'the weekend of', albeit now I've double checked it, it actually says the weekend of the 4th. https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/20232/october/fa-cup-first-round-draw/
Yes it did but it was changed to Saying 3pm on Saturday. Surely that is confirmation of the time otherwise why did the club randomly put out a false statement?
