Hourihane's brilliant going forward but still has a lot of work to do on the defensive side of his game.

It might be the thing that keeps him with us beyond January.

Haha all opinions :) Up there with Butterfield, Howard, Hammill and Drinkwater midfielder wise. Only out of those four three were sold on the cheap and one wasn't ours. If it wasn't for his goals and set ups we'd be alot worse off in the league and when we sell him we shouldn't be far off fee wise than we got combined for the three i've mentioned.

I really rate him, and I'll be very disappointed if we lose him in January for an 'undisclosed' fee. But if folk think a lad at this level scoring 10 goals by mid-November and creating just as many, isn't going to be on the radar of clubs further up the pyramid with money to spend then fair enough.

I've no issue whatsoever with us flogging him. So long as we're talking ******* idiotic money. Circa £3m. We're told that we're not in financial trouble, we're likely to be in the promotion hunt come January, he's on a three year contract and seemingly enjoying playing for BFC. We hold all the cards if all the above is true.

But it'd be new ground - in my opinion - if the Cryne family don't cash in for circa £1m.

    We'll see.

I see one of those laikers regularly. Hourihane isn't at his level, trust me. And he isn't as good as Howard was at that level either. I can't compare him to the other two as they're not playing a similar role. It'd be like saying Winnall's as good as Aguero because they both score goals regular. There's a big difference in quality of opponents between this and the level above.

I do though believe that Conor could indeed flourish at that level, and he's already one of the best players (level irrelevant) I've seen wear our shirt in my years as a red. I hope he stays around as long as Howard and Butterfield did and eclipses their success at second tier level. :)

Always makes me laugh this comparison game. So your saying Butterfield, Howard, Drinkwater and Hamill are as good as Aguero?

We hear Bree is "better than Stones". I believe he has the potential to be a great premiership player possibly international but he hasn't been recognised in the current England set up so is he better?

Hourihane is one of the better midfielders we have but we have Bailey and Berry who allow him to play to his forward thinking strengths. He looks less of a player if he has to carry the defensive and attacking Mid role as we saw when. Bailey was injured and Berry was in/out.

Let's not compare, let's just recognise at this level he is showing great form and will attract attention but he's enjoying life here now so let's make sure so do we

Are you having trouble with your eyes, mate?

Must be if that's the conclusion you've arrived at after reading my post.

So you're saying Butterfield, Howard, Drinkwater and Hamill are all ten times the player Aguero is?

No very good vision thank you. I'm referring to your reference of comparing Winnal to Aguero who is a world class top premiership international. This was as a reference to people comparing Hourihane to some players who have played lower leagues and some upper level football. Fair comparison you think?

So I guess a response in the spirit of questioning my eyesight would be to ask if you need your head testing :rolleyes:lol

But it can also be said that those he's surrounded by in the team aren't as good which makes his stats even more impressive.

    Reight. Here goes.

Sam Winnall scores goals at League Two level. Now scoring goals at League One level. But if someone said he's as good or better than Sergio Aguero that'd be daft, aye?

So in my opinion (that's all it is) I don't think Hourihane is as good as Hignett was. Nor do I think he's at the level that Howard or Butterfield were. He's certainly no Redfearn.

Why folk can't just enjoy him for him, rather than try to dumb down others' contributions I'll never know.

I love Winnall more than I've loved a current BFC laiker since Bobby/Daggers/Foz. He's ace, innit?

I proper love watching Hourihane. He does indeed remind me of Hignett, Howard, Redders, Butterfield etc. He's a midfielder who scores beauties and creates goals too. But I'm not going to try and compare him with three of the best midfielders we've had in my time as a red. If he goes on to perform like this for us in the second tier, takes us to the Prem or summat, or his goals take us to Wembley then I'll happily agree he's as good (or better) than that lot.

    :)

Butterfield is the best player to ever play football. Keep up.

Howard and Butterfield played in a BFC side (mainly) who were a lot worse than most of the 23 other clubs in that division. I reckon this BFC side is about as good as you'll find at this level.

Higgy and Redders made their respective BFC sides tick. They're so much better than the other three we're discussing I find it hilarious to even debate it. I never saw Ronnie Glavin, but my dad says he was the best player he ever saw, until Higgy arrived.

That's the same point I made in my original post. Ah tha blind? Lol haha

I get your point mate, we do love to compare though and time has a tendency to create fantastic viewpoints, after all Messi couldn't lace David Curries booits.
