Something else that Hendrie deserves credit for was the signing of Craig Hignett. Up there with the very best I've ever seen in a Reds shirt. Not sure we'd have pulled that signing off without Hendrie's connection to him from his time at Boro.

I`ve no idea whether this is happening or not but it did occur to me that Conor will have some thoughts and connections regarding recruitment that Daniel may not have at present.
He also may carry some clout with these potential signees.

Give it Hourihane and let him bring in an experienced number two

A lot of folk seem to be suggesting/intimating that Hourihane and/or Stendel is done and dusted. Is this the case or is it more speculation? Just asking.

Yeah that season '90 with Mel, was one of my favourite seasons.
Oakwell was a fortress, and the football was very good at times with the quality of the squad he'd built. Even the home kit was a good one as well, which also counts lol.
And remember it covered the whole calender year of 1990 actually, as we also did well to stay up that previous season.
He 'effectively' got us into the Play offs, and we were celebrating doing so after our last game.
Until Brighton got their winning goal though after about 10 minutes of stoppage time, which was unheard of in those days!.

......then he got the Tiler/Aggie money and spunked it up the wall.
That side was crying out for a goalscorer so he paid good money for John ******* Pearson who only turned up of you gave him a crack round the napper.........sithi.

He seemed to have a bit of a chip on his shoulders about the foreign players too.

I've heard that from some sources but it doesn't really tally with him planning to build a team around Hristov. I think it was known that he didn't get on with Fjortoft, hence selling him for a pittance - something which he possibly regretted when suddenly finding himself with Deon Burton, Don Goodman and Karl Rose to pick from up front.

Gosh I'd forgotten about the three amigos up front. Make Cosgrove, Watters and Marsh look like Aguero, Haalland and Tierry Henry

    Andy Evans and Mike Turner.

Both were better than Goodman and Burton, mind.

Mike Turner - remember his debut at Ipswich well. A proper case of flattering to deceive if ever there was one!

Andy Evans - who he? Genuinely have no recollection of this man.

Just looked him up on Wikipedia, still don't remember him. Did he ever make an appearance?

Came on as a sub in a cup game I believe. When we got stuffed at Tranmere possibly. He was nothing to do with Hendrie though. Bassett signed him.
