'Genuinely reckon' vs. Stating things as fact

    Aye, crack on.

    1) Agree. But you can't please everyone unfortunately and there will always be someone who's personal circumstances don't suit the current setup (unless you adopt the 'Twenty is Plenty' approach). The discount is designed to allow the club to encourage advance purchase so they can plan catering, turnstyles, etc. much better

    2) They weren't cheap as chips but they were relative to and reasonable in comparison to the rest of the league. This thread makes out that every game is £38 and we're charing top of the league prices which is pretty much a lie.

Many improvements can be done for very little money or nothing at all. ALL home ends have big puddles of standing water if it rains for a period of time. Fair enough don't spend thousands of money on getting a company to sort out the drainage system but give the ball boys or stewards a sweeping brush and it would only take a few minutes to sweep it through the gaps in the walls onto the gravel track so young kids don't splash dirty rain water everywhere running in them. Get some local primary school children to draw some pictures to put over the breeze block walls if you don't want to give them a lick of paint in the concourses. Sort out disabled access with apparently only Rotherham in the area upto standard. If the catering company won't put on one extra wage to serve then at least have a word with them so the people they do pay to serve work abit quicker instead of the same no rush steady pace no matter how big or small the queue is. Sort our the internet of the stadium so when thousands want to find out stuff at the same time like at HT they can do with a strong wi fi connnection. You don't have to wipe bird ****, dust, cobwebs ect off every seat because thousands don't get sat on so they don't need doing anyway.

It's just little things here and there, nobody is asking for lazyboy chairs to be installed or owt like that.

Don't want to get too involved in all this tomfoolery but do you really think 30 quid is a 'reasonable' amount? Disgusting overpriced just plain wrong I could go with but reasonable absolutely not. 20 is plenty that would be reasonable 30 quid plus is ******* taking the piss.

The initiatives to enable home fans to avoid paying it are slow and undoubtedly will be both tokenism and poorly advertised when you could just offer flexible tickets. Of course this avoids our wider aims which seem to be to rip opposition fans off which is also wrong.

The Op is wide of the mark but I do think that a coat of paint wouldn't cost much and could be done by volunteers

Is everyone refusing to read my second paragraph? I think the cost of watching football is too much full stop. But in relation to other teams we're not exactly overpriced, even looking locally.

I read it but you can't justify our attempts to rip people off because others do it. In wider terms no premiership club is charging more than 30 quid so even taking the wider football argument it's not justified. Comparatively Old Trafford is cheaper than Oakwell.

But that's the point we are making, we are being charged a premium but not getting premium facitilities. The catering is rubbish every single match so if the advance notice isn't being used then they may as well just make it cheaper for everyone.

Especially when our club made a big deal of '20 is plenty's last season.

I can't justify it but I can understand it to a degree (but without agreeing with it). Might be quiet right now but I'd hope as we kick on with the three home games in eight days and then announce some kind of scheme ongoing to bring the price for home fans down. Maybe I'm being optimistic.

Thought the average cheapest ticket in the Premier League was just over £30? Ours will be lower on average.

No away fan in the premiership will pay more than 30 quid for any game.

Like you I hope we introduce summat. As an away fan I'm not going to aby game that costs more than 30 quid.

I'm sitting writing this eating momos in Kathmandu and thinking what 30 quid every other week could do for the lives of some of the wonderful people I've met here. Puts it into perspective

Sorry for confusion. I was referring to the massive increase in prices of football in general. Even putting aside inflation the difference between what we paid in the late 60s early 70s relative to wages when it was still a working mans game and what we pay now relative to wages is huge. As someone at school I could afford to attend all the home matches pay on the day using my own pocket money, No way I suspect the average kid could do that nowadays. Apart from having a seat as opposed to standing I dont think the experience has changed all that much either. Used to be 12000-14000 in the Old Oakwell and the Pontyend was packed most games.

Now that I agree with. Not that I can relate to it being 32 but the appreication is there. How crowds continue to increase I'll never know.

Well, if I wanted to have a conference Oakwell is ideal, it's local & they have the facilities

Offer the same as other clubs and charge the same. Offer less and adjust your prices accordingly.

Great idea or Offer a season ticket or match day tickets to someone with a bit of artistic talent at Barnsley college to paint pictures on the breeze block walls

No they won't. Someone like me who was reluctantly paying £23 in the Ponty won't be paying less than that.
