Time will tell. Nobody is disputing it went wrong for Hill in 2012, and he was unable to address it. There's just too much ignoring his whole career as a manager though, especially in a thread about a quote made while he's at another club.
Keith Hill made many (too many) mistakes at BFC. Like I said earlier, we stayed up last season by default and the points per game tally we had, when he finally got fired, was nailed-on relegation. Excellent manager is not how I would describe Keith Hill.
But he WAS great at Dale. So therefore, he's not a bad manager, he was just a bad BFC manager, and we've had plenty of those. Let's see how he gets on now he's back at his previous level.
It was our fault no doubt, not his, even tho we just paid to watch and he was paid to sign the players, pick the team, devise the tactics etc.
Good lad 442. Good lad. Awful run with us for a variety of reasons. Did some good stuff for us but also some bad. Had to go. I miss him terribly.
Been a regular visitor here for the last couple of years. I'm not defending Hill's record at Barnsley, but there's been some unfair ignorance shown towards his overall managerial record. Also went to both Burnley and Huddersfield in the away ends supporting (y)our team in recent months. I wish Barnsley nothing but success.
Don't you worry mate, I'll be over to your gaff this season to see Keith again. All the best. My new second team.
Bit simplistic after-the-event talk that mate. We were safe well before the end of the season and the players were already on the beach. Hill experimented with a few young uns those last 5 games and I'm pretty sure we would have got the couple of points required for safety had they really been needed. Portsmouth cheated, got found out and were deducted the points fairly and squarely. Anyone could do what they did, sign players on barmy contracts, overstretch yourself and go into admin. Best thing ever brought in this 10-point deduction. They were down on merit and we stayed up on merit - no way did they save us from relegation.
Wasting your breath mate. Lots of reasons why we stayed up and lots of reasons why we had such a poor second half of the season. Some Keith's fault, majority not. The run last season is a different matter mind.
