We are sat comfortable in mid-table wen all the pundts expected us to be relegated. Am sure wen Keef is satisfied that we completley safe then there will be more than Digby from the academy getting a run out. I said on here yesterday that Digby would do well. He was in the top3 best players yesterday. Mark my words we will see John Stones, Danny Rose, Jordan Clarke and possibly Sam Patterson before the end of the season. If they are gud enuff then give them a run. Better to have a team of home grown energetic young inexperienced players about the first team squad than Donnyiesk seasoned campaigners who are just chasing the money. Blend the youth with the experience and the Barnsley faithfull will warm to them. Digbys role is to sit in MF and distribute from a deep position. Yes passes might be sideways at time but ball retention is key. Butch Wilkins got 80 caps from being such a player. I bet Digby wud settle for that. While ever we keep the ball the other team are trying to get it back. Barcelona are the best team in world football because they keep the ball. Give the lad time for gods sake he just turned 17. He is a player without doubt and will expand his game with the experience.
Re: Looks to me like he has the basics there if he put that performance in week in week out as a 22/23 year old he'd be a steady run of the mill hard working midfielder as a just turned turned 17 year old i thought he was out standing, shows great potential, can blossom ( as butts can) under this regime, he just lacks ( and obiviously so ) the maturity that age and experience will bring especially playing with the likes of tonge/butts
Excellent debut. Not seen many better than that from such a young player. Massive potential, will get better and better the more games he gets under his belt - get him in as many times as possible from now till the end of the season would be my advice to Mr. Hill
Had a decent game Got caught in possession a little bit and looked a bit slow. But especially in the first half and leading upto our goal, looked assured on the ball, looked to play it forward and looked very comfortable against a good Birmingham side. Not the finished article yet, but think we'll see much more of him before the end of the season.
Re: Looks to me like he has the basics there Wish Davies would start learning from Gray on getting the ball under control with his back to goal, then we may have another saleable asset.
Re: Looks to me like he has the basics there Davies' first touch at times is somwhat lacking I'd agree....
Well: he accidentally drinks a liquid growth formula (a form of experimental fertilizer), and expands to gigantic proportions. Two criminals then steal Digby, and sell him to a circus. Digby, however, escapes by breaking his chains, and running at will across the countryside of the United Kingdom. The boy who owns Digby, as well as the scientist who worked on the growth formula, both realize that Digby is constantly increasing in size, and will soon cause massive damage unless something is done immediately. The scientist finds out he has created a chemical that might reverse the growth formula. The British military, however, is attempting to solve the problem of the oversized sheepdog in their own way: by use of bombs and artillery. And he made some good passes as well.
Very true. He should be starting on saturday and for the foreseeable future. NOW is the time to bed him in and Hill knows that. He will have a bad game at some point but he should still retain his place after it. If he's a regular starter for the rest of the season he will be a big asset next season
Seemed to grow into the role as time went on. Spent a lot of time puffing and panting and just chasing his tail though. The hairy b*stard.
