Besides the error in the first half l though he did look comfortable on the ball, it was our fans that weren't comfortable with him on the ball. Players would look more composed without the nervous crowd on their backs. Grew into the game and won everything in the air, once he gets the pace of English football we'll be selling him for 5m.
Think that misplaced pass made him slightly edgy - not one to carry the ball out like our other two CB thought he improved greatly though and we have a decent player on our hands
Didn't understand the crowds frustration because he had so much time on the ball, we are drawing teams out of position and wearing them down. It's the same football that Man City play but £400m cheaper.
It’s completely different type of football to what’s he’s used to he’ll get use to the style as he gets more game time. He’ll be a different player after 10 games and some coaching
Think they let him play to be honest - they dropped off and marked our players giving him very few options. They wanted him to try and pick out the pass and make a mistake again - he went long and to be fair there were some decent passes
Early days and no doubt there might be the odd hiccup but he looks like he'll settle in nicely and go from strength to strength as his confidence grows.
Old fashioned type defender with an athlete's body thrown in. Looks like Mael and Earl might have to play it out of defence.
Those saying he was ponderous playing out from the back - I don’t know what Collins’ tactics were today, but there was consistently nothing on when he had the ball. Not only that, there was barely any movement until the strikers started coming to feet in the second half. Not a dig at Collins - we won…..I guess he just wanted to keep things organised first and formost.
With game time, a back 3 of De Gevigney, Pines and Earl is going to be fantastic. We've signed 2 very good centre halves in January.
I've just read that he completed the most passes and won the most duals in the game today. Instant impact.
Exactly this. His biggest game in his career, not namby pamby American Soccer. Did brilliant considering.
Just thought that he played very well for his Oakwell debut - also in a big match against a Top 3 team. Wasn't perfect but, hey, it wasn't that bad. The more the back three play together yhe more sound they'll be.......
I loved how he was celebrating at the end. His first start and you can tell he’s all in. Love him already!
