With Jay on this one n'all Think they are pricing people out of going. It costs me a fortune in petrol to get up to Barnsley anyway, I could have done without the extra few quid on the ticket price. Made me laugh when they said Rotherham was a category A match....shows how far we have fallen I suppose. I just hope it won't go back to the bad old days when youngsters would rather take a trip over to Manchester (for not much more brass) rather than go to Oakwell.
RE: Have you sent these figures to the club? Not sure what it would achieve. The only thing that would affect the pricing structure is if gates were getting noticeably lower. Same old story with football clubs, unlike any other business they milk their customers dry because they know we will keep coming back.
Yeah I know what you were saying. I was just confirming it.
The club feel they get a good deal out of the contract and they can concentrate on the core part of the business - football!

RE: To make a fairer comparison You would also need to know how clubs determine what is category A or B. For instance one club may have in the main more cat A matches making them the dearer option. Just another thing to ponder I guess! However, I believe that the club could do more to attract families.
Average gates at oakwell are falling. Last season 9,779 compared to 9,013 this season despite us having a much better side that is doing far better than last season. Our average this season is the lowest since 95-96. But you're right, I don't think me contacting them with those figures would achieve anything.
RE: Yeah I know what you were saying. Maybe they have got a good deal, but surely you've also got to look at what is a good deal for the fans? Football is the priority, of that there is no doubt, but pricing policies for everything from tickets to replica kits, programmes to pies, are also important. Price people out of going to games and spending their money and there won't be any football because there won't be any fans.
RE: Average gates at oakwell are falling. mmm interesting. I didn't realise attendances had actually dropped that much. I suppose there are a few other contributory factors though. Big games ...eg. Wendies always boost the average. I'm sure the price increase has an effect though. I know it's made a difference for me.
you mean when the club claimed in their advertising that the fans were getting one of the cheapest tickets in the league and it turned out to be utter bollacks?
On the flip side We may have many more category A matches. I mean, Scnuthorpe is category A. Scnuthorpe!
RE: Biggest decision the board ever makes is choosing the manager very interested in your reply Jay and to support that claim I too feel somewhat alienated. This,is by far the worst I have felt about this club for many many years. If I could be forgiven for comparing how I feel about B.F.C. at this moment there are similarities to that of a bad marriage. In truth, it is possible that an outright divorce might be on the cards. Already I have chosen not to attend matches, inspite of having a season ticket. I have given away two brand new replica shirts and my heart is no longer full of positive hope and anticipation. The days of living a dream and feeling good, even when things are going wrong, have long since deminished. So after 51 years as an almost obsessive supporter i no longer have enthusiasm to continue. One of the many reasons is my mistrust in a chairman who I know is a success in other industries but who appears not to have the knowledge, insight and basic skills to deal with the paying public in the world of football. rant over. Ho, and by the way Rob,If you choose to run to the chairman and tell him about my post please do so with my best wishes, but while your running to him ,don't fall on your ass.
RE: With Jay on this one n'all Hehe....fair point. I'm just saying that the ticket price increase has affected the number of times I make the journey up North. I can't be the only one.
no but the club should have the intelligence to realise its customers do not al live in barnsley or are we only wanting clientel from the barnsley area? if so then look forward to the club folding because we wont get over 7,000 fans in the ground every week
RE: no but the club should have the intelligence to realise its customers do not al live in barnsley At the end of the day....wherever a fan is travelling from. £22 quid to watch a game against Rotherham is too much, even for the most loyal of fans. Means I can't afford to go out boozing after the game!
RE: no but the club should have the intelligence to realise its customers do not al live in barnsley So the club are helping you become more healthy by not drinking after the game! Whats the problem?
