Gears

Now you've got me... 15 i think - 3 on one handle, 5 little ones on each of the three.... not quite mastered those yet, but I do know where the easy gears are!! (Do I sound like a female driver yet?!!)

    RE: Route

Think that's the route I'm meaning - where's Pilley then?!! Without a doubt I'll be going for the minimum impact route - I don't do hills for a laugh!

    RE: Route

If you went past T.Manor, on the A61 towards the motorway roundabout, but turned left before you got to it, that takes you to Pilley - you can also get there on that route I mentioned above, by turning left before you cross the motorway bridge.

If you went thro' Pilley there's a big climb to get back to the road that takes you to Stainborough. If you go to Hoyland Common lights, turn left, over the roundabout and follow the A61 signed for Barnsley, there's a left turn off the A61 just as you enter Birdwell that will take you to Stainborough. - A bit nicer route !

You seem to know a lot about Pilley. Are you Oldtimer28?

    RE: Gears

you usually can't use all 15-altough with only 5 at the back you might be OK-use the smallest sprocket at the front with the biggest at the back to give you the lowest gear

don't start climbing in the lowest gear-save it for when you are struggling !!!

    Ok

I was going to use the new bridge to cross M1 at Tankersley & then left to Stainbro' so it sounds the same - I just don't know Pilley obviously! I don't use maps!! It's all in the head - somewhere.

Perhaps, but it's nicer to arrive half an hour early than 10 minutes late.

    RE: Ok

If you want to do that, turn left before the motorway bridge, towards Tankersley school and you can then cross the new bridge.
