I suspect when it’s too late for a new manager to be able to bring in players they want (either time wise or when the budget has been blown), so the board/CEO get to sign the players of their choosing and the new manager has to try and mould a team out of them. They probably also see it as a blessing there is no manager now to get involved with which players they’d like to retain and which they don’t want, again leaving it at the CEO’s/board description. Wouldn’t surprise me if Poya had tried to engage the board in March with which players he’d want to keep and sign at the end of the season and been told he had no input, which is why he then decided to leg it at the end of the season regardless of whether we stayed up or were relegated.
Well Khaled said he recognised that we didn’t have our plans in place for a proper preseason last season so I would hope that’s what we are aiming to avoid this season. Think what Poya said was just saving face tbh. He failed in his role and is now trying to apportion the blame to other factors.
