Don't know if I'd take anyone over the first 11 in both those. Rooney and Gerrard for the bench perhaps.

And Cole over Pearce?! Really?! I couldn't believe it last week when he got his 100th cap - ffs!

I personally think Cole is probably the only one of the foolishly named 'golden generation' that comes out with any credit. I've rarely seen him have a bad game for club or country. Whilst he may go unnoticed at times unlike Pearce with his robust challenges and free kicks, I don't see that as a particularly bad thing. If you go unnoticed against some of the best wide players in the world you're probably a decent laiker.

Also of the few defenders to keep Ronaldo quiet.

Absolute bell end of the first order of course but a good footballer.

Hart isn't as good as Shilton or Seaman (96) so my honest opinion is that none of the current team would get into the '90 team.

No idea. Definitely not at work, though. Honest.

None. Cole would push Pearce, but i still think Psycho would have been the better option. Arguments could be made for Gerrard and Rooney, but again, I think those in the other squads were better. Potentially Walcott and Wilshere, but not so far - not on what they've demonstrated. Too hit and miss. I do agree Shilton was passed his prime in 1990, but would still edge it over Hart for my money. A safer pair of hands, less prone to mistakes. That said, I do think hart will be one of the better keepers we've ever produced when he's fully matured. None of the rest even come close.

None for me. There could be an argument for cole in both but it would be a moot point.

Over to Hemsie to say that all the current squad should be in!

I was thinking Cole but Pearce edges it IMO.

Lets be right, Rooneys goal scoring record states he should have been in both if you ally that with his overall production.

    Wayne Rooney 83 Games 36 Goals 0.43

    Alan Shearer 63 Games 30 Goals 0.48

    Teddy Sheringham 51 Games 11 Goals 0.22

    Peter Beardsley 59 Games 9 Goals 0.15

    Gary Lineker 80 Games 48 Goals. 0.6

Now then hes clearly not the pick of the frontline strikes on goals/game alone however this was squads and when you take into the consideration rooney doesnt have anywhere near the same service i think its fair to say he makes it.

At Italia 90 Shilton wasnt at his best but i remember him playing well in the qualifying group to get there especially against Poland away.
At Italia 90 he was slow for the Germany deflected goal,he didnt gamble in the penalty shoot out (dived late for every pen) and cocked up against Italy in the 3rd/4th place match.
